You're There, but you're not really THERE
As much as I can't stand the whole "holding the door for other people" situation as talked about in a previous blog, today I was really outraged by the behavior of many people. As I was approaching the door in the Union to leave the building, I noticed a guy on crutches trying to sneak into the parade of people rushing in and out of the building. I noticed that nobody would let him go. As I approached the door, I held it and stepped aside so that he could go through without having to hold the door himself. He recognized that I was trying to help but he still couldn't go because of all the people pushing through like animals. About twenty people went through the door I was holding until he was able to have his chance. What were people thinking?! Did they really think I was standing there holding the door for all of them? People are so caught up in their thoughts that they don't even realize the reality of what is going on around them. That, and, people are so rude that they can't wait ten seconds for him to safely get out of the building. What in life is so important that you can't wait a few seconds to help someone out? People are living their lives in their minds and thinking about the past and future (where they came from and where they are going) rather than living in the real moment.
