BLOG POST #9- Like and Love

What is the difference between like and love? Is there a difference between liking someone and loving someone? And is loving someone the same as being in love with someone? There are fine lines when it comes to liking and loving but each is incredibly complex and it is not easy at all to define them.

To like someone can be to be attached to them, to have a soft spot for them, to hold in high regard and think well of, as well as to admire, respect, and have things in common with. To love someone is to have an intense feeling of deep affection for someone. To love is feel a certain level of attachment, endearment, devotion, and passion for them and may come with a feeling of infatuation and obsession. To be in love with someone is all of the above and to have this person on your mind all the time, and wanting to be with them all the time. You’d give your life to spend your life with them.

It’s easy to like a lot of people but it’s special to love people. You can love someone intimately even if you have no sexual feelings for them. You can love your family and even your friends too. I am lucky enough to have had friends I’ve loved. These are friends that feel more like family to me than friends. These are the people whom I’d spend hours with in one room simply talking and having the best time doing just that. When you love someone, the silence between you and them is a comfortable silence. It’s fantastic to love people and to be loved, regardless of whether you are in love with them or not.
