Last Lecture

The Last Lecture, by Randy Pausch, is a great book read a while ago. Written by a Carnegie Mellon professor Randy Pausch who had terminal cancer, the book was based on his lecture “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dream”. In the book he basically talked about his life, his childhood, his profession, how he found out he had cancer, and how he want his children to remember him.
Pausch said he had a good childhood. When he was a child, he would draw on the walls in his room. His parents did not yell at him or punished him; they allowed his imaginations to grow and him to have fun. He had a list of things that he wanted to accomplish, which included being in zero gravity, and write in the World Book Encyclopedia. He did accomplish his dream because he was determined to achieve it no matter how long it may take. He told people during the speech that he became a professor, so he can enabled the dreams of others. Pausch had three young children and wondered how they would remember him. Instead of laying in bed to rest he would go out and play with them, so that they would remember him as a strong a great dad.
This book is very motivational for people to realize what dreams they had when they were children. It shows that things you may think are impossible can be be accomplished, and they will make you a more happy person. It also lets people know that having terminal cancer in a literal sense means the person does not have long to live, but they can still enjoy every moment of life they have left, instead of being depressed and mad at the world.
