Eye contact is so key to connecting with people through life. It seems that everyone has become afraid to make eye contact. I go to the bank, they barely look at me, what if I'm about to rob the place, they wouldn't get a good look at me. When I go to the mall the cashiers are so zoned into scanning price tags they never look up. You get the "Hi how are you" generic greeting, as they are looking the other way. Why is it that people are so afraid to make eye contact with one another? God forbid you get caught looking at someone, they automatically thing you're checking them out, and that's almost never the case. Eye contact can tell so much about a person. You can tell if they are lying or about how they are feeling. Expression is so key to understanding someone. Nobody should be afraid to make eye contact, especially on interviews. It shows confidence and I don't know why that scares people nowadays.
It's come to the point where I've been on dates where the guys is sitting across the table and will barely look me in the eyes. What could they possibly be starring at on the wall behind me for two hours?! It drives me absolutely crazy. The way I know if a guy is really paying attention is I ask them what color eyes I have, because I have hazel eyes, its hard to just make a guess and to get that right. I never go on a second date if they can't answer. Sounds stupid, but I'm not about to waste my life going out with someone if they can't even look me in the eyes.
The next time you go someplace, take a notice to who actually looks you in the eyes, you will find that most people have a real issue with it.
