Net Neutrality

In a recent assignment for a class, the issue of net neutrality was raising. Given the internet age that we live in, the court ruling in favor of internet service provider Comcast only casts doubt on the continued neutrality of the internet. If ISPs are given free reign on what they allow and disallow on their networks, this will inherently introduce biases, giving rise to discriminatory behavior. On the other hand, if the FCC gained the power to restrict providers, the FCC may be hindering the providers' ability to serve consumers without warrant. "In the end,the consumers' interests are the priority and must be protected regardless of where the authority comes from." Without such protection, we cannot safely say whether or not this court decision's precedence will come back to haunt us in the future.
