I have a Psych midterm tomorrow and I'm dead tired. My mind is telling me to make coffee and get all the caffeine I can get to cram. Now I'm wondering if coffee really works on me. When I worked at Crumbs, the smell of coffee beans would give me headaches over time. Whenever I feel tired I would go to Starbucks and by the time I get my drink, I would already be a little bit more awake. Maybe it was the idea of having a cup of coffee in my hands that made me more alert. Does a cup of coffee act as a placebo then?
My dad is the type of person who needs his cup of joe every morning. My mom would lecture me to never drink coffee. "It's bad for you. Just look at your dad, he's addicted."
Well mom, college kids need their coffee because we rather stay awake than sleep. Especially during finals, everyone is looking to caffeine to stay up late and cram. Amp, Monster, Redbull, 5-hour energy, espresso shots, coffee...we love you.
