Hey guys. Within the last few weeks, we have been on the dicussion of media such as Facebook and and Twitter and how it allows us to interact with the people around us. Wether it be asking a classmate for some lecture notes on Facebook or watching a class that you cant attend on Skype, we all know that media has evolved. The problem is, however, that it controls soo much of my life that i wouldnt be able to continue one of the most important aspects of my life if it werent for the constant innovation.
Me and my girlfriend have been dating for three years now. We started back in highschool and had an unusual story of how we met. Dont judge me but she is the bosses daughter for the part time job i have been working for. It was just a teenage relationship a the time however it has evolved into way more due to the technology that has been developed. Most of my friends consider me crazy becuase none of them had been able to keep their relationships after high school and for that matter salvage any relationships at all.
At first, it was visits. She decided to go to school in Maryland (about 4 hrs away) and it was hard. I was always busy and could barely see her 2 times a semester. We then, inadventently, decided to rely on text messaging which made it easier to communicate and gave me a sense of what she was doing. In the end, we both moved to Skype (and thank god for skype). We can now have facetime which is probably the most important aspect of any relationship. We talk at least once a week and we both love it. Seeing her face is just not comparable to anything else we have used in the past. So to anyone thinking about a long distance relationship, you can do it! Just make sure you have the right tools and the technology to save you when your sinking.
