Chelsea.

Ahh the city and its magnificent view. Albeit the fact that I’ve seen many parts of the city from a heightened point of view, I have never really appreciated the scenery until now. Commuting from Bayside to Chelsea has always been a bitch, especially during the summer. From the rising temperatures forcing every drop of sweat out of my skin, to the fact that the streets are crowded with the most arrogant, pushy people, the word “bitch” doesn’t seem to justify the amount of hatred I have towards…well not really towards anyone but rather the weather itself. Summer without the beaches, the parties, the friends, but rather filled with long, strenuous hours, early morning trips, and the weekly abuse of our strength, was not worth the unpaid internship at CityStage.

Yet, maybe it was just the weather that got to me. Maybe this internship wasn’t such a bad idea. Maybe I just didn’t appreciate the fact that this was the first time I was witnessing a live behind-the-scenes feature of a movie or television show. After all, I got to meet some celebrities, some famous people, and learned from thoCse that have been in the industry for years. I did get to play with the lights and the shadings, along with all the other interesting devices. I did learn a thing or two about lighting and gripping. After all, it does beat staying home and doing nothing productive.

Yet, despite everything, I will never forget about my last day here. Struggling and risking our lives to get on top of this water tower, a fellow intern and I share a blunt while laying back on the rugged, washed out wood tiles. I guess I just took this picture just to remind myself that no matter how bad things were, this summer wasn’t so bad. Chelsea, I’m actually starting to miss you again.
