An accessory can be a home. Birdhouse gourds, fun to make, can provide shelter for little critters.
The first time I made a birdhouse gourd was about a year ago. It started as semi-unintentional. My friend's mom gave me a gourd and it eventually hollowed out. Then I carved a little circle into that gourd and it transformed into a little home.
Birdhouse gourds can be decorated or they can be kept natural. Just make sure that if you do choose to decorate, you use a paint that won't hurt the animals.
