I frequently find myself having difficulty finding an outfit in my already packed closet. Ladies, have you ever said to a guy, "I have nothing to wear!" and receive a response along the lines of, "Um...are you kidding me? You have so many clothes!"
Well here's a little interesting fact: Did you know that 80% of your outfits are made up of only 20% of the clothes you own? No wonder we always say we have nothing to wear...80% of what we own are worn only occasionally.
Yesterday I went to Smith Haven Mall with my suite mates to go shopping. As we were walking around the mall, I was thinking of the stores I used to shop at. For example, back in high school all I wore was Aeropostale and American Eagle. Now, I enjoy wearing more simple pieces and the styles I wear tend to be similar to those of the Gap or Banana Republic.
I found this picture of my mom (right) with my two aunts at Columbus Park during the 90s. When I saw this, the first thing that I thought of was, "What was she thinking when she was wearing that ugly ass jacket?"
The jacket looks so hideous in my opinion but it's surprising how these trends came back even in our generation. When I was working in retail, neons and tribal/ethnic trends were very popular in the summer time. And of course tights came back and now people can't stop wearing them.
