Yet again Mother Nature had tricked us. What seemed to be an awesome day with sunshine and no clouds, turned out to be nothing but a lie. Granted it was nice for a few hours, delight went to disappointment as the night came. My friends and I were excited to see the weather finally take a change for the better but it turns out we were too optimistic. We usually play football in the stadium parking lot at night when all the cars are gone. The first time we played this semester was just awful. It was raining and most of the snow was still there, not to mention the patches of black ice that everyone was slipping on.
The frigid weather forced us to end our game quickly leaving us wet and freezing from the rain. A few weeks had passed and since the weather seemed so nice we were all excited to play again, but this time with nice weather. Mother Nature had something else in mind though, she decided to bring the winds of pain and sadness striking us with blows from the north, east, west, and south. The winds were strong that night and don't let anyone tell you any different. We were, to say the least, upset and cold but we decided to push through the pain and play anyways.
The game went on and the winds blew from all directions creating a hectic game of trying to go with the wind and see if we could use it to our advantage. The cold chills that those winds brought to our bodies forced a few of our men to wither and turn in for the night, stating that they were going to succumb to the cold of the night if they were to stay there any longer. A few brave souls and I decided to stick it out and continue to play through the pain and misery. You might ask why and I would tell you just for those few minutes of joy when you catch that football and make an amazing play. We made the best of the worst conditions and we came out of that parking lot better men. Mother Nature may be strong but she cannot sway those hearts that are brave and honorable.
