All Good Things Must Come To An End
This semester has been amazing. I got to visit places I've never been before and learn new things that I would have else never got to see. In the beginning, I took the class for a dec; separating this one from art and music classes because of its interest to me. I am a computer science major and visuals in the form of media have always been of interest to me. New technology plays such an important role in my life because it is my future. What hasn't been done yet is my goals for the future. What has been developed will become my tools to get there.
Completely blowing my expectations away, the class taught me things about technology that I haven't even learned in my computer classes. 3D space is such an important aspect of the future of technology and it hasn't been covered before this point. Professor Baldwin introduced me to one the coolest tools out there to manipulate space, Google Sketchup, that can hopefully put me at an advantage in this competitive work world.
Even more than teaching actual programs and concepts, Professor Baldwin continually told us important things about the work world that we need to be aware of. The talks on Pink Collar Jobs have really opened my eyes to the beauties and dangers that I will be exposed to in the future. All in all, THR 216 has taught me an incredible lesson which is to always be prepared in any situation no matter what the circumstance may be. Thank you Professor.

Goodbye 216

This is a funny picture I took of Krista because it was taken the last day of class. We actually had a lot of great memories in this class, and that's why we decided to end it with a comical picture. She has a picture of me walking away from class. We're honestly going to miss the class because we got so much experience out of it. We got resume work, a lot of program work and lasting relationships.

Stress is wearing me out...
Well, classes are almost over and finals start in another week it's no wonder I feel a bit stressed out. However the stress I feel now seems even worse than what I felt in the fall. You dear reader may be wondering why I feel as such, though I'll tell you why. It's all because of the different classes I'm taking, two in particular.
Let's begin with the first one, which would be this class. I feel stressed about this class not so much because of the 50 blog assignments( which I should start finishing) or the projects. I feel stressed because of the performance, and just a general feel that this is a roller coaster of a ride I'm going on right now. It's not to say I'm not enjoying the class but, I can't help but feel that he gives us too much free reign and that at times could be a little bit more specific. Well not much I can do now except to do the best that I can.
I'm also stressing about my final conceptual project in art. I originally had a lot planned for it but now I may have to scale it down. Though I still have time for it. I know in the end I'll manage, and though it may seem like a lot to me right now, I'll get through it. Not only that, it'll be the best.

Donor

so i just wrote a beautiful blog entry about organ donation but my computer shut itself off unexpectedly... so i am writing it again
Organ donors can touch so many lives... about two years ago a couple of men came to talk to my Med bio class in High school. at first they just seemed like a couple of reps sent by the organ sharing network to promote organ donation. It wasn't until later when they reviled their true identities. one man had received a donated heart from a 16 year old girl who died in a car accident. The other man was the father of a 26 year old woman whose organ were donated after she was taken off life support following a train crash. they spoke very passionately as they explained their personal stories. it was touching to hear them speak and i started to consider becoming an organ donor myself. later that school year a fellow student in my high school passed away after collapsing on the field during a football game. he was a pretty popular guy and athlete. his passing received a lot of attention by the press. it was later revealed that he had suffered from a brain aneurysm. His family made the decision to have his organs donated. that following June i renewed my drivers license i checked the box that made me an official organ donor.
When I die I want at least a small part of me to keep living rather that be through my children and/or through my donated organs. when I used to think of organ donation i was always weirded out by the aspect of sharing organs. As i grew to understand the good that comes from organ sharing i realized that it is truly an amazing act. At times i can be a little selfish but this is truly me being selfless. so many people die waiting for organs to be donated to them, it's truly sad. I know that if i were dying of heart failure or something like that i would pray that someone would have it in their heart to donate their gift to me. When i donate i hope to touch as many lives as i can. it's not often that a regular person can say "I will save someone's life someday" and be completely confident in that statement. You never know who will end up with your organs when you donate but i do secretly hope for one thing, whoever receives my donated gifts will continue living and I from where ever it is we go after we die will be able to live that life with them. Seeing all the beauty that the earth still holds though I am gone. Enjoying their every sunrise and sunset with them until their final days on earth. When my time here is finished that doesn't mean i can't still contribute to new life. CONSIDER BECOMING AN ORGAN DONOR TODAY <3

Texture in time: the sponge
usually disregarded as a dirty household item, the sponge is beautiful to me. they come in all different shapes and sizes and are a big help when living in a dorm where the dishwasher is non-existent.
Texture in time: the radio
this is a video of a radio that i have it's purposely make too close up so that the viewer has to take what is given and decide for themselves what it is and what it means. The same is said for music. an artist sings a song or writes a beat and does not necessarily have to spell out what the song is about. they leave it up to the listeners to decide the meaning. the listener can use the song in their own way.
My family video
I was trying to figure out how to record my own audio to go along with the music and photos slide show but i couldn't figure it out. so i posted the video anyway.
The video starts with photos of my Grandparents (Mother's parents) it then progresses to photos of my mother as a child, her brother and her parents. the last photo of them is a color photo with all four members of the Sparrow family. The next photos are of my fathers side of the family, the Goodwyns. it also starts with my grand parents and moves into my fathers generation showing his brothers and sister as young children. the final few photos starts with a photo of my parents together. it them moves to their wedding day and finally a photograph of there three children. Taylor (the oldest), Evan (the middle child) and me AKA Mackenzie (the baby of the family) the final photo of my brothers and me fades to gray in a tribute to all of the gray photos (ancestors) that came before us.

Texture in time: Milk and food coloring
Science is a very important subject in my life. This idea of milk and food coloring on a plate rapidly spreading with a drop of dish soap was a must see in my book. it was a video experiment first seen by me on Youtube. the youtube video shows a swirling of colors as the soap hits the milk for an extended period of time. Thought it worked enough for me to catch on video after the initial spread of food coloring that was all that really happened even with more dish soap. I think it is very important for young people to get out and try things. (safe things and not so safe) and to not believe everything that see on TV or Youtube for that matter.
Texture in time: falling coins
Money controls us all whether we admit it or not. The visual of "falling money" if often seen as a good this like rappers 'Making it rain' with 100 dollar bills. I am a broke college student so the Benjamins got swapped for the Lincolns (the copper kind), Roosevelts and Jeffersons. the economy is down and money is tight especially for college aged students trying to get on their feet. the video is in slow-mo to show the detail of money falling
Texture of time: Ceiling close up
In my dorm here on campus (Hendrix) we often complain about the popcorn ceiling falling and getting all over absolutely everything. I decided to get up close and personal with this strange annoyance and examine every nook and cranny. it's pretty beautiful to see it up close. for something we see and complain about daily it's actually very eye catching and pleasant.
I set it to an outer worldly sounding song intro it seems to fit well with this strange close up

Teen Pregnancy

A couple of years ago i admit it, when i saw a pregnant teenage girl walking through the hall of my high school i had a stereotype of how she ended up in that situation. "she's a slut, she doesn't know how to use a condom, her life is over" those were some of the things that raced through mt head. Truly I regret even thinking some of those things because i was being an ignorant youth who did not know much. Last year an acquittance of mine found out she was pregnant. i've know her for my whole life really and I was shocked. she never was the dumb girl or the slut of the school she was as normal as they come really. she had been in a long stable relationship for years since i knew her to call her out of her name because she was pregnant was totally wrong so I changed my ways. now that her son is bout 9 months old she is more then happy to be a mom with a beautiful, healthy, happy little boy.
The MTV shows '16 and pregnant' and 'Teen mom' are often looked upon as the real deal when it comes to raising a baby at a young age. after conversing with my friend about being a teen mother she tells me otherwise. I respect teenage moms who give up their childhood to raise their own children. It takes a lot to raise a kid when you are still a kid yourself. though it would not be my choice to have a child at the age of 18 or 19, my friend tells me that her choice to keep her baby was not a selfish act but a selfless one. why should she deny her child the opportunity of life when her child has done nothing wrong.
I am a firm believer that a woman should have the right to choose if she wishes to carry their pregnancy to full term. it's a delicate dilemma in which i hope to never find myself caught. it'd be hard to give up all that i have worked for in highschool and college for a child but on he other hand as my friend told me it's a selfless act of love. My mother often will shake her head when she sees pregnant teenagers, i often remind her that she is not familiar with their situations and be happy for the expectant mother. it kills me when people say just because a girl has a child at a young age it will make her a bad mother, it's not an age thing that makes a bad mother it's a personal thing.

Group A
A.K.A: The left side of the room
Too many people are not receiving the proper care they need because they do not have insurance. Even children are turned away despite the desperate pleas of their mothers.
after graduating from college we all dream of getting a well paying job to support ourself. sometimes people can not get a good enough job and are often looked down upon by their more successful counter parts.
group B
GROUP B
the thought of suicide crosses the minds of kids...teens....adults everyday. People who you may least expect may be having these thoughts....DONT JUMP!!!!!!!!!!

Poor students are being faced with debt everyday. As seen above, this student has no other choice but to charge her cell phone OUTSIDE. what is this world coming to that students have to resort to these extreme measures.

how ridiculous is it that someone has to get turned down from a life threatening procedure because they dont have insurance. And no one is sympathetic towards a dying person if they cant pay for their procedure....not insurance companies...and not doctors....
THE HUMAN PYRAMID!!!!!!
The video above depicts the guerrilla warfare tactics used by group B against group A

Make the Ugly Beautiful

today looks like a pretty crappy day weather wise, it's raining and kind of cold out. this morning on my way to class i decided to walk there without an umbrella and strictly be an observer. As i walked i saw an array of beautiful things. colorful rain coats and flashy rain boots were everywhere. I've never really noticed how much beauty is in a rainy winter day until today. i am usually focused on staying dry but getting wet in the rain was actually quite nice for a change. besides the exciting rain fashion the rain itself is pretty beautiful. back when i was younger i hated the rain. not only did it stop us from getting out for recess but it washed away the beautiful chalk drawings that we'd wish would have lasted forever. today seeing the rain wash away the snow is more preferable. the sounds and smell of the rain is also welcomed. another thing that i find quite relaxing is the thunder. lightning though beautiful and all still creeps me out... but thunder always sparks my imagination even though science class has explained to me what really happens i still would chose to believe what my child hood self thought of that mysterious sound from above.
besides the calming sounds of the falling rain the promise that rain brings is also welcomed. in winter rain means to me that it's no longer that cold out for there to be snow which means YAY no more snow for a while. hopefully within the coming months there will be beautiful flowers greeting us!

It's called sharing Bitch *explicit content* sorta...

I ask my suite-mate nicely who is sitting on the couch WITH HER DAMN LAPTOP OPEN ON HER LAP an hour in advanced if I can watch Jeopardy at 7:00. Of course I get some smart ass answer… HER: “well I guess you could if I’m not in here” Me: “well do you know if you’re going to be in here at 7?” HER: “I don’t know” *said with an attitude* excuse me Bitch???? She’s not even watching the fucking TV I was nice enough to ask her to share the damn TV. WHICH IS NOT EVEN HERS IN THE FIRST PLACE… people need to learn how to share.we're all 18 here and people are still acting like spoiled ass little bitches. I am so pissed right now. I’m hoping she walks in here and sees me writing about her. And gets all upset because I’m putting her on blast.
I honestly don’t know where these people get off talking down to complete strangers. DID SHE NOT LEARN HOW TO BE NICE TO THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHERE ALL HER SHIT IT?? It really amazes me how people like her even have friends in the first place. It’s not your damn TV, and you weren’t even watching it. I am getting sick of dealing with all of this rudeness for no reason. don’t give me smartass answers when I am trying to be considerate of you. I could be the bitchy one and monopolize the TV every time their shows come on but no I share nicely with them and hardly ever cause problems. Maybe I am being too nice to these people who constantly annoy she shit out of me. Yeah maybe that’s it…
