White Collar Jobs

Nowadays, what are we striving for? We hope we don't have to work forever at these small places like Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks, because lets face it, it won't pay our rents. We want those white collar jobs. For example, working on Wall Street, as a doctor or at a law firm. We won't get them without going to school or making big things happen for ourselves. Getting a raise at your pink collar job is alright, but it won't get us the salaries we need. All semester, Professor Baldwin has motivated us to go the extra mile so that one day, we'd have the skills to get the career and money we need.

Technology

Its amazing how far technology has come. This is a photo from the digital camera my boyfriend bought me, and honestly, I love the clarity I get from it. Even looking at this picture, you see the texture, the stitching, and it's insane! Camera's used to be just to capture the general quality, not the little details. My boyfriends a photographer and I love the kicks he gets from the new cameras that come out all the time.

Friends

Something that gets me heated is flakiness. I feel like nowadays it's extremely difficult to find actual friends. We all have acquaintances and those who are there on the side lines, but real friends are so rare. For me, I've had quite a few friends, but they turned out to be people I didn't want to associate myself with. If someone you know can lie without twitching, those are people you shouldn't want as friends. I want a true group of friends, but where does one find those? Not so simple to just find people in class, and typically going to parties tends to lead to association with drunk messes. There's so much difficulty today with finding genuine people who actually care enough not to end up lying and stabbing you in the back. I hope one day to have a great group of people I know I can depend on, but until then, I'll stick to being independent and not having to rely on anyone else.

A Semester to Remember

This semester has been quite event filled. A whole paper full in fact. My suite mates and I, throughout the semester, have written down every slip, funny thing and typo we've made, and we've made quite a few. What we love about this list is it's packed with memories. We've had parties, we've done karaoke, cooked together, sat up late nights, talked about personal problems over tea and ice cream. It's crazy how over a period of a few months, so much can happen. I think through each semester, we change as people, better for the most part.

Finals result

This is what my common room currently looks like. What do you get out of this picture? Take a guess? Can't? Well this is the result of finals week. Books spread out, paper all over, drinks and food in different areas. One of my suite mates is an art major, so her finals consist of works done with paper, and making silhouettes. My other suitemate is studying for BIO 203, and here I am doing my blogs and trying to get the most of my work done. Its amazing how college is so different from high school. We go all out for studying and are forced to pull all-nighters instead of just studying one night and knowing you're prepared.

Candles

This is going to sound funny, but smelling is like eating with your nose. I have a love for candles that can't be explained. It puts me in a calm, serene mode that helps me relax no matter what the condition. Everyone has their own sense of what is soothing, but for me, food smells make me go crazy. They smell like everything you want without actually having it. Also, candles are made in practically every flavour, which is awesome. I have blueberry scone, hershey's chocolate, pineapple cilantro, cinnamon, sugar cookie, lemon lavendar and lemon pound cake.

Apple vs PC

Apple vs. PC has been such a debate, but I myself have always been a PC person. I grew up with a PC, so I'm so used to it. But lately, I've somewhat been crossing over slowly. It started with an iPod nano I got in 9th grade. I fell in LOVE with it. It was amazing how something so small could deliver such clear sound. I was amazed, and would only use iPods as my music players. Now I own an iPod nano(new generation) and an iPad(with a keyboard) and honestly, my iPad is used far more frequently. My boyfriend has a Mac Book Pro, and it's so beautiful. I think PC is easier to use, but Mac is definitely the sleeker company of the future.

Interviews

I loved doing the interviews every week because there were always such interesting topics. We talked about everything from student debt to hacking programs. It was sort of an evolving process because it opened us up. At first, we didn't exactly know in what context to answer the questions, and were skeptical about giving our true opinions, but a few weeks in, the class was in no way nervous or scared to just be ourselves. This picture is an image of the two puppets used in the American Decameron show in the interview setting. More of a comical picture that both Krista and I took.

Practice Makes Perfect

This picture was from our rehearsal. From this, I learned that we maximized our performance during the actual show. I thought it was a great success, and what made it that way was the fact that we actually rehearsed on a stage. In the performance, and in life, practice always makes perfect. We learn over time that sometimes, you can't just wing things, you need to plan. You need to make adjustments, and in order to ultimately achieve goals, you have to make your mistakes, learn from them and fix them.

Suitemates

School has its ups and downs. We have tons of work, but there's also a lot of play involved. Me and my suitemates have a great relationship, so on some nights we just stay up and discuss whatever is on our minds. We love having fun, as well as doing our work together. We love singing karaoke, dancing, watching movies, talking about our relationships. This is actually the first time I've gotten along with my suitemates. It's awesome, because there's no awkward moments, no tension, and we always support each other.

Morning Pancakes

Remember the story about my crazy roommate? Well, this was the morning after her incessant threats to me. I couldn't sleep, so my suitemate stayed up with me, and the next morning we made pancakes to celebrate bonding over not liking my roommate. It seems bitter, but we had so many issues with her. This was one of my better mornings. I believe that sometimes you have to make the best of a bad situation, and that's what I try to do, and that morning, that's exactly what I did.

Goodbye 216

This is a funny picture I took of Krista because it was taken the last day of class. We actually had a lot of great memories in this class, and that's why we decided to end it with a comical picture. She has a picture of me walking away from class. We're honestly going to miss the class because we got so much experience out of it. We got resume work, a lot of program work and lasting relationships.

Hockey

There are few things that make me happy, but hockey is definitely one of them. I love how fast paced it is, and the dynamic of the sport. The great thing about sports, in general, is that it takes your aggression out, and instead of yelling at people, you're more inclined to yell at the game or cheer on your team. The New York Rangers are my favorite team, and it's because I was born and raised a Ranger fan. My dad was born and raised one too, so it's pretty much a tradition.

Kinect

This class surprised me because we did so many new things. We used the Kinect, which is recent technology, and turned it into a motion sensor that changed settings like music and images without actually touching anything. It was pretty cool. In the image is Paul in the calibrating position, which is putting your arms up in 90 degree angles. We tried it out in class, and it was awesome the way the actors would put their arms up and the music would get louder, faster, etc.
