Last Blog

This semester has been difficult for me when it came to classes, but this class was a nice change from my mundane classes. Although i didn't have a camera which made it a bit difficult and annoying to film my videos, i was able to get them done and I enjoyed doing most of them. I also left most of my blogs for the end because I am a huge procrastinator, but I actually enjoyed writing some of them, in a way they were a stress reliever. The three hour class was a bit hard cause I've never been in a class for that long but it was still interesting for the most part. I didn't always understand what was being discussed in the class but I did write down some of the book titles that were discussed and I'm gonna try to read most of them. It was nice meeting all of you and I hope everyone has a great summer. :)

Chopped

I love the food network and “Chopped” has become one of my favorite shows . It is a competition, which starts with four competitors. There are three rounds and in each round they all get four secret ingredients. In the first round they have to make an appetizer, second round is an entrée and third round is the dessert round. In each round a chef gets eliminated. The twist to the competition is the fact that the ingredients in the baskets are mainly random ingredients that usually don’t go together, which usually makes the dishes extremely creative. One of the baskets included watermelon, canned sardines, pepper jack cheese, and zucchini, for an appetizer course.

Last year during the major storm I was staying with a friend in Scarsdale. Her town was badly destroyed.

Sunrise at the beach

The beach is one of my favorite places to go to. I don’t like open water so I don’t go far out, but I do enjoy lying on the beach and hearing the water, while tanning. I was born on an island and I lived most of my life at a five minute walking distance from the beach so that might be why I find it so soothing, its home to me. Every time I go back home, the day that I leave I always try to see the sunrise at the beach. The sand is always cool and the colors in the sky are beautiful. It’s a tradition that I started with my sister and I hope to continue doing. It is really peaceful to sit at the beach at that time in the morning when there is no one else there.

Crafting

I love crafting!!!! It is a real stress reliever and during finals it really helps. It is an expensive hobby, but everyone should try it at least once.

Spain

If I could live anywhere after I graduate I think I would love to live in Spain. I visited Spain my junior year of high school during a school trip and I fell in love. I visited Toledo, Sevilla, Madrid and a couple of smaller towns and cities. My first language is Spanish, so I felt extremely comfortable. Although Toledo was my absolute favorite city, I would probably love to live in Madrid because it is a big city and there is a big diversity of cultures.
I also enjoy the idea of living in Europe because it is very easy to travel throughout the entire continent and I love traveling.

I could've sooo been a Gerber baby. My mom squashed my dreams, because she never took me to a casting for Gerber Babies. If only I would've been given the chance I really believe I could've strived in the baby modeling industry....lol

Texture 7

I have a weird obsession with lightning storms. I took this video while on a plane, which now in retrospect I should've probably been freaking out seeing that this was happening probably about two miles from my plane. But at the moment i was extremely excited. It reminded me of the lightning part during the movie "Fantasia".

Netflix

I’m a huge movie addict. My freshman year of college I bought over fifty movies. When I realized how expensive my addiction was becoming, I decided to sign up for Netflix. Best decision of my life. At first I had the three movies at a time and unlimited online viewing, but since transferring to Stony Brook, I really haven’t had much time to watch movies, so I lowered my plan to the one movie at a time and unlimited viewing. They don’t update the available online movies that often but I’m the kind of person that will watch almost anything, so I’ve never really had a problem finding something to watch. And it has helped lower my movie spending to about $10 a month. Now my new problem is that at times I wont go to bed till like 5am because I am watching movies or shows. But that is another problem I will have to some how resolve.

Drunk Bowling

I’ve decide that later tonight I will be taking a break from studying to go drunk bowling with some friends. I believe that all students need this kind of relaxing time during finals, because it keeps them sane. People tend to go a bit crazy during finals week because of all the cramming and lack of sleep. So taking some time out of your day or at least some time once in the whole week to relax and have fun is always healthy.
For our activity, my friends and I chose drunk bowling because what can be more fun and stress relieving than throwing a bowling bowl down an aisle, while you imagine your hated professors’ heads on the bowling pins? ☺ And although many believe alcohol is a depressant, it tends to lift my spirits for a while. But it is a must to play with bumpers if you go drunk bowling. Because lets be serious, after a few pitchers, everyone’s aim tends to go to shit (pardon my French). So I really recommend that you all take my advice and go drunk bowling.

Love Me If You Dare

This is my favorite movie of all times. It's in French so you have to read subtitles unless you understand French, but the colors are amazing and the ending is unimaginable. If you guys get a chance, you should watch it.

Summer Housing

Summer housing is ridiculously expensive, is Stony Brook serious with those prices. They are charging me $41 a day for summer housing for a single, and $35 for a double. To begin, those rooms are extremely tiny. In total I would have to pay around $3500 to stay here for the summer. That is actually more than the cost that I am paying for two classes, keep in mind I am also an out of state student.

Finals

Finals week sucks. I personally am not stressing out because I’ve just lost all interest in my studies at this point, which is not good but I cant seem to get out of it. But watching my friends freak out and knowing that I need to try a bit harder because my gpa is kind of suffering is putting me in a bad mood. I really need to raise my grades but I feel like I’ve been trying all semester and it hasn’t worked out for me. Maybe my mom is right, maybe I should just take some time off to figure out what I’m doing with my life. But then I just think that I might as well just get this over with because if I leave there is a slight possibility that I wont want to come back. It also doesn’t help that most of my friends that I graduated high school with are now graduating and I still have one more year.

It would help if I was not going to be taking summer classes this summer, but I really need them if I am planning on graduating in spring. How am I suppose to study when all of these thoughts are taking over my brain. I just need to get through this week and start summer classes because the complications of financial aid for my summer fees are also distracting me. I need to start taking yoga again.

Study Time

I am currently studying for my first final at the physics library. I had never been here, but this place is a jem. It is extremely quite and pretty empty for a library during finals week. I have never had class in this building so I never had the need to go exploring. The building itself is a bit creepy for my taste, probably cause its one of the older buildings on campus, but this is definitely a good place to study. I am a person that is easily distracted, so this room being pretty empty is helping me concentrate. They don’t have printer up here that I can see, but if you go down to the basement they have their own sinc site which was also extremely empty. Out of maybe twenty-five computers only four were being used.

People are always complaining that there are no quiet places to study, but if you look for them you can find them. Another good place to study is the honors college room in the library. I’m not part of the honor society here at Stony Brook but its not like anyone is actually checking. Last semester I went there with a friend and it was literally a whole room to just ourselves.
