Summary
M4 by houshengchiang
HAHAHAHAHAHA I FINISH 50 POSTS.
Thank you professor! I appreciate all things that you taught. I learned a lot from you, and I enjoy doing them.
What is FACEBOOK for?
We should really invite this person to our interview, LOL.
Waterfall, illusion
You must be very curious how can he do that, right?
So, here's the explanation:
Revits- Part II
By listening to his working experience, Revit seems to become more important for modern high class architecture firms. A super high skyscraper 3D model can be easily built by Rhinoceros just in few second; however it still needs other program to reinforce (detail floor plans, rendering, environment setting…etc.). A 120 floors building makes architect panic just by doing floor plans one by one in AutoCAD, Revit can simply create the drawing automatically. Especially when some minor detail changes happened to most of plans, one single change can easily apply to the entire floor.
To conclude, although AutoCAD is still the main sting design program in design world. In reality, man’s desire of “Living in cool building” and “Designing dream building” is ten times greater than the past 10 years. As a person who has lots passion in seeking my ideal house, dream home and wonderland. I think I should share this experience to everybody in this class.

Playable Angry Birds birthday cake

*if you are good at baking, try to make one :)
After I watched this clip, I had an idea. Maybe I should put angry bird into Garry's Mod. So, if the model (game scene) is made, we will be able to play Angry Bird in 1st person's view.
Revits- Part I

I have a friend who came over and visited me last winter break. He is currently intern with AS+GG Architecture. Knowing that I am interesting in making 3D model rendering and design, he introduced me a professional program from AutoCAD series, called "Autodesk Revit Architecture.
Overall, this a Building Information Modeling (BIM) type program, which can develop higher-quality, more accurate architectural designs. Other words, the user can select exactly accurate type of building elements, material, geographic location and properties. And basically, the building can be built in real life after the model is design and calculate correctly. Yet, it does great rendering too.
Japanese Comedists
*Gamarjobat
Really humorous. I like the way how they convey their ideas. The following clip is also theirs, one thing that you take a notice is the "tongue" game, which you can have interaction with someone else.
Portal 2 vs thinking
*Portal 2 Video Preview 2
I think portal 2 is now a very popular game even in its 1st generation. I downloaded the free version. It requires a strong sense of logic because it is so different to the real life. I really believe that portal help us to think and view things in many various ways. Once our brain become more active, our brain will performs and functions better than before.
And.. you will be like 'wth' after you watched this:
Pepsi- New looks

*Pepsi
One day, I went to Wendy and ordered a small Dr. Pepsi, and the cashier just couldn't stop laughing. He asked another guy to cover his position. I did the same thing again. The new cashier said: "You are so funny!! hahahahaha....."
Pepsi MAX
Zero calories, maximum taste. (I never believe those words.)
Summer

*A render of EVA Air
(i did not made the plane. all i did was coloring + render)
7 more days, I am going back to Taiwan for summer visits.
I guess it is kind of hard for you guys who grew up here to understand what is "homesickness". Although the technologies, nowadays, become really advance that you can see someone else in a distance, this is just not enough for me. I did not go back last summer, so I decided to make a summer visit with my mom.

New York (JFK) to Taipei, Taiwan (TPE)

Sayonara, my sophomore year.

Well... this is actually my third college year. But because I was a transfer student from Queensborough Community College, some credits are not required, so I am a sophomore in Stony Brook.
It was quite surprised that I received a mail from Stony Brook begin with "CONGRATULATIONS". I didn't expect that SBU is going to admit I as their student. I was so excited at the time. I couldn't wait to come here.
The time went so fast that a year passed, I am not really satisfy with what I've done. I was expecting that I will have a substantial college life. Although I did a lot of things, like tennis and owned a position in a club, it is still not enough. I am hoping that I will do better for the next semester year.
Lost in Manhattan
*going from Stony Brook to Penn station
OMG, what's wrong with me. It's the second time lost in city. My orientation supposed to be very good that a map is not necessary, but recently, I always head to the opposite side to the destination. It's not a surprise that I was lost going to the Tank, but this time I can't find the place where I've been there more than 5 times!!!
Today I went to TECO, again, to get my certificate of study back. I left my suite around 11:25am to catch the train leaving at 11:46am. I brought my laptop just in case I got bored on the train. But since I only had 4 hours of sleep last night, I fell asleep. When I arrived Penn Station, I was somewhat excited, thinking "I am here again". Right after I got out, for some reasons, I feel like I had never been to this place. It feels so ...weird.
I was lost, didn't know which way I should go. It is the first time my orientation is gone. I was so frustrated. After walking for an hour, I finally got to TECO, where is only 5 minutes to Penn Station. After I received the certificate, I left TECO, and same thing happen again... This time was better, only 30 minutes... omg......
Home @ Bayside [sketchup], part 4
Since I didn't make any significant change inside the house, but outside, I only animated outdoor scene.
2D or 3D? Optical Illusion
*Optical Illusion
I am just so curious about how it is made. Honestly, I saw this a couple weeks ago, and I try to print out something similar to that, but none is close to the great effects in the clip.
In order to make this illusion, you have to know the angles, and you will have to stretch out the original object in 2D. Also, the shadow is essential. Even with a tiny error, you fail, which is my case, LOL. I tried to copy the illusion but with a simple object - a black cube. Yet, the results turned out to be very UNLIKE. I will have to work on it more to reach the level in the clip.
*Unfortunately, I don't have the photos. They are in my old laptop.
Observation of the blog

*Blog summary (find it on the right)
I made a observation of these couple days.
May 16th - 708 posts in May
May 17th - 763 posts in May (Increased by 65 posts for 1 day)
May 18th (4:38am) - 1056 posts in May (Increased by 293 posts)
It seems that everyone is just rushing to finish their 50 blog entries. The updating rate of new posts in this blog is so fast, and the blog system now doubt if we are spamming, so that it requires us to type the "word verification".
I guess we should have post our entries in a earlier period of time, but only few people did that:
January - 2 posts
February - 433 posts (15.46 posts per day)
March - 599 posts (19.33 posts per day)
April - 380 posts (12.67 posts per day)
May - 1056 posts (62.12 posts per day, divide 1056 by 17)
SIXTY-TWO POSTS PER DAY?! That's crazy. I guess that most of us are just lazy at the beginning of the semester, and now people are rushing. Although it is really sad and I am one of them, IT IS STILL VERY FUNNY, HILARIOUS!!!!! I think it is just the human nature. LOL
Google Beatbox & some ideas
*Google Translate Song
I think my level is good enough to mix sounds, but how come I didn't thought of it?! Mixing music with Google Translation? That is such a brilliant idea! I could have made one and use it in the performance. Since this idea has been used by others already, I have another idea. Although it might be stupid, using Google Translation (virtual human voice) to tell the story, and make the performer to control the volume and speed of the story (+music) by using Kinect with the program we had. In this case, performers can present and focus more on exaggerating the body movements, so that the machines detect the movement with more efficiency. Oh my god.. I wish I had thought about it few weeks before the performance in the Tank.
Art of time
*She takes a picture everyday: 4.5 years
This is really something. I think I should start to do the same thing for the rest of my life. I would like to see the changes, but the thing is that: I don't think I have the patience to achieve the goal.

Gummy Bears Stop Motion
*Gummy Bear Animation
Few days ago, I tried to make the same animation to post it on blogger, but this kind of video is going to cost me a lot of time. I was trying to make an animation using a beer cap I pretty much gave up, since I have to prepare for my finals. But, I do have a very very short clip.
Hello Kitty [Sketchup+Maxwell]

Hello Kitty
I am such a fan of Hello Kitty.. No, just kidding. My girlfriend likes it.
You may have seen a hello kitty, but I bet you've never seen one made using sketchup. Since I have to catchup the entry progress, and my girlfriend likes it, so I decided to work on it.

*Sketchup

*Maxwell

*Finish!!
It really looks like a real model after rendering. Is anyone would like to buy it LOL?
Maxwell Render 22461 - Final (Multilight Animation)
