As I have grown and matured I have seen patterns in my prayer change over the years. When I was young I would pray for materials such as toys, money and to be successful in everything that I did. Today however I find myself praying less for myself and more for others. Selflessness is something learned through prayer, it is something God wants all of his children to obtain at some point in their life. Today I hear myself praying that my family will stay together through difficult economic times, that my friends will get passed the addiction that controls their lives, and that God will give my the courage to change the things that I cannot accept. Finding faith has helped me get through this past year, which has been one of the most difficult times of my life. Going somewhere alone with your thoughts is always a good cure for a stressful situation.
