We are blessed to be writing freely on blogs, Facebook, and public forums. Other countries are not as blessed. I have learned much about the Iranian pop culture that I believe is detrimental to understanding the voice of Iranian women. Iran was one of the first Islamic nations to give their public access to the Internet, and has over 700,000 public blogs that have become popular tools for expression under strict anonymity. Another interesting fact is that the IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting), is under direct control of the Supreme Leader, and its main domestic activities include 7 television networks, and 14 radio broadcast stations. The government of Iran plays an enormous role in what is said and showed in the media.
