Staring Out My Window

poem I wrote...

Staring Out My Window

The tree branches are waving at me
as I hear the whispers of the world

The lamppost's yellow light shines on the white powder
falling on the ground
Snow--so fresh and clean,
like an untouched canvas waiting to be painted on

This image I see while staring out my window--
peaceful, calm, but so empty.
where is my snowman?

This abandoned cold winter
breezy night reminds me
that life alone is
lonely.

So Close but So Far Away

Oh summer, how I love you and hate you. Summer just got here and thank god. School is over and I can finally take a break for a while. Besides the break, however, I hate summer. I simply not a "warm-weathered" person and I'd rather have winter any day of the week. Im not sure what it is; maybe it's the comfort I get from sitting by the fire or the warm feeling I get inside when I get a big cup of hot chocolate. Whatever it may be, I just seem happier during the winter.

The other half of the story comes from the activities during the winter. I am an avid snowboarder. It is something I love to do and just gives me an amazing feeling. The problem is, however, that the snow only comes for 3 or 4 months out of the year. It sucks that my most favorite thing to do can only be done for a short time however I've become accustomed to it. Once the winter ends, I simply start counting down the days till the next winter. It gives me something to look forward to and get me through the winter.

This summer, I've actually thought about taking a trip over to Colorado. Many of the mountains continually get snow and are "skiiable" for the whole year. It would be so cool to get on a plane in my bathing suit and get off with snow pants. Well, well see how well that works but for now, Ill keep looking ahead and waiting for next winter.
