The first time I ever drove a car I was a nervous wreck. My arms were shaking and my palms were sweaty. I couldn’t really believe my mom was going to let me drive the car. I guess after three months of asking, she had to say yes eventually. Well now here it was my first step to getting my license and I was blowing it. So when my mom finally left the house she came to the passenger seat of the car. I told her to drive. Then she looked at and laughed.
“Boy, you better put on your seat belt and learn to drive.”
So I put my seat belt on, fixed my mirrors and started the car. My mom told me to drive up the block. I put the car in drive and off I went. I was going about five miles per hour. When I stopped at the stop sign my mom turned to me and said
“Rae you have a drivers permit and there’s a reason that you have a permit. You know everything the book taught you, all you have to do is apply that to now when you are on the road.”
I knew she was right but I was just nervous for some reason. She then told me to drive around the block. I continued on driving but now I was more calm and relaxed. I wasn’t nervous anymore; I drove for about a half hour. When we got back home my mom looked at me and said
“See I can give good advice sometimes.”
