Everyones electronic devices are private space. Our laptops are personal to us, but even more personal to us is our cell phones. If we are to loose our cell phones and someone happens to find it then so be it thats life. Other then that most peope would agree that they would not like it if someone looked through their cell phones. If a boy or girl suspects their partner to be cheating they will most likely be assured of this by looking through the cell phone of their boyfriend/girlfriend. Unless the partner is on top of their game and constantly erases all messages and calls, a revealing text is sure to be found. Besides calls and text message something that has become even more personal in our cell phones is our photos. We make send out risky photos or receive them.. or we may just take a million photos of ourselves until their is one we like. Either one I am pretty sure most people would prefer to keep them private.
In class we talk about the future and how technology will change our personally space. Things like facebook have already left more open to the public. You can find out alot more about a person you dont even know now then you could have 20 years or even 10 years ago. A persons job, education, sexual preference, religon, etc is listed for everyone to see.
I have been going to a different nail salon and the other day while I was at the dryer, the man who does my nails grabbed my cell phone out of my bag, unbenounced to me, and came over with it after he found a picture of me and my boyfriend and says " Thts your boyfriend?" I was shocked and wondered what other pictures he came across ( not that their that R rated ). I grabbed my cell phone from him and told him that it is rude to look through other peoples cell phones let alone their pocketbooks and that "we don't do that here" . I was appauled and will not be going to him ever again.
I just thought it was a perfect example of cell phones and what they mean to us
