It's one of my biggest pet peeves: nail biters. The thought of the sheer number of things you touch with your hands in between washing them should be enough to prevent someone from putting their fingers in their mouths. But it's actually quite appaling the number of people I count on a daily basis chewing away at their nails. This pet peeve didn't bother me as much until I moved into the city. I practically sanitize my hands the second I get out of the subways now. Everywhere you look, every inch of the city is covered in grime and bacteria. The thousands of people that commute on the subway daily, everyone touching the same metal bars to harness themselves. The thought that thousands of people touch the same metal pole, we're constantly transmitting germs from one another, all throughout the city.
Then you put the city's worth of germs in your mouth WILLINGLY. Agh, gross. Just think about how unsanitary money is. We all touch it, hand it off to one another for years. And money never gets cleaned or sanitized... It just gets dirtier and dirtier. I hope you all think twice about putting those dirty hands into your mouth now. Just think about putting that dirtyass dollar bill in your mouth next time you start to nibble at your nails.
And the fact that so many people fail to wash their hands after using a public restroom absolutely baffles me. IT'S GROSS. You don't know who used the facilities before you. And there's so many homeless bums in the city that haven't showered in who knows how long who sit their buns on that very toilet seat you perched up on. So in a way, those dirty hands with possibly bits of urine residue touches the subway bars, that you later touch, then put in your mouth... You could be enjoying some tasy homeless urine. All to support your nail biting habits. Is it worth it? please tell me. Is homeless urine worth biting your nails for?
