I'm still proud

The other day, my brother Joshua, who will be 9 in a couple of days, was suspended from school for three days. The reason being is because he punch another boy in the mouth and actually ended up breaking his tooth. I understand, and it has been instilled in me and my siblings since we were young that violence is not the answer. But on the same token we were also taught to defend those who can not do it for themselves.

So after I got the call from the elementary school that he was in a fight and I needed to come pick him up I was furious. When I walked into the school I could feel my adrenaline rising, I was the maddest I had ever been at my brother. He is the sweetest little kid, and will honestly do anything for anyone. He is kind, and compassionate, and has even cried at commercials because He feels bad for poor children in third world countries.

I walked into the main office, and then into the principles office. Instead of being angry and mean, the principle was very nice. She explained to me that though he was caught fighting it was not necessarily his fault. Apparently the class bully had gone up to a little girl and pushed her to the ground. My brother who had issues with that young man before went up and punched him, causing a bloodily lip and a broken tooth. SHe continued to say that because of particulars he was going to be suspended for 3 days.

Though I am not proud that he hurt another kid, the fact that he stood up for a little girl makes me proud.
