Going Green

Going green. It's the movement of the present and the future of the world. We have hit a time in history where we need to be more sustainable. Our ozone layer is depleting minute by minute and our oil importation is beginning to slow. As a result, global warming has become the major focus of the 21st century and gas prices have rose to an unbelievable high. It has now been recognized that we need to change the way we live however is it too late?

Although we cannot fix all these problems at once, we can take small steps to a big change. Here at my job at Stony Brook University, we took on the challenge of turning the building into a green and sustainable office. For the past year, the office started participating in online applications. The problem is, however, that the applications before we started doing them online are on paper. As a result, we have been scanning every document into our system in order to declare our building completely sustainable.

Very boring to say the least and tons of work involved, however very necessary. Going green will help us save the planet from the terrible things we have subjected it to over the years and make us more sustainable at the least. In the future, we will look back and understand the importance of this worldwide movement.
