Dan Gulino #22
The world is not free. I sit here behind my laptop feeling no pressure or anxiety over anything I put on the world wide web. However, women in Iran don’t have the pleasure to feel the same. There are many different ways that women in Iran have found to use as outlets for their passions and thoughts. One of these outlets exists only in cyberspace in the form of the weblog. Women, write freely and intimately about a disparate range of topics, from diary entries to discussion of feminism and gender politics. These form of self-expression always help these women to express independence and their desires for freedom. These female bloggers share personal experiences, discuss issues, express feelings of outrage and frustration, and reflect on what is allowed or tolerated in controlled Islamic physical space Another example of these self-expressional outlets lies in television, broadcasting and movie production. More and more women are trying to get their faces seen and voices heard in a society filled with censorship.
