EDM

I feel like a new person since I've engulfed my life with EDM. I mean, I've been into electronic music for over three years now; when Hite started making mixed CDs for Paul. It started randomly, Paul asking Hite for a CD for the car. The first CD was listened to on repeat until the disc started skipping. He followed through with a set of five-discs starting with Vocal Trance, Non-Vocal Trance, Melodic Dirty, Simply Dirty and finally, Filthy Dirty. He burned us a copy of Infected Mushroom's Supervisor CD, which would become my first taste into PsyTrance. Within the next couple months, I would discuss with Hite the tracks I liked, as he didn't really provide track names for anything. He copied a data CD with Deadmau5's early music, which I instantly fell in love with. My love for rock, punk, ska and acoustic music was quickly replaced by House. Partially due to Hite's laziness to make mixes, and my constant desire for new music resulted in him handing me his entire harddrive with all his music. Without a second thought or sorting through it, I copied all 60GB+ of tracks he's spent years collecting. To this day, I still have yet to thoroughly go through all the songs.
The following two years or so was spent shuffling through Hite's collection discovering DJ's I liked and favoriting random tracks I enjoyed. Though, truth be told, I did listen to the same DJ's the majority of the time, ignoring the rest of his collection. My taste within EDM would change as I was shy of the Dirtier tracks at first. Funny to think that I probably would've hated Dubstep three years ago. I also didn't listen to music often at that time. I wasn't a fan of plugging into my iPod when I was up and about; and chose not to listen to music much at home because the boyfriend preferred quiet or a show to be on TV instead. He was also a bigger fan of rap and hip-hop, so we chose to keep music to a minimal (basically only in the car).
Initially, I found it hard to discover DJ's I enjoyed because of the overabundance of choices and being overwhelmed in all the different types of EDM. Hence why I depended solely on Hite's collection. I started venturing off in my own discovery while downloading albums and live sets from the DJ's I already knew I enjoyed. Finding similar artists this way along with discovering remixes of tracks I already knew I liked done by different DJ's was the start of my adventure.
