EDM 2

After the breakup with Paul I fell into a bit of a depression, as I felt disconnected from all my friends. I realized I grew apart and had little in common with many of my friends. I decided to reconnect with childhood friends I long lost touch with. I started talking to an old friend from middle school who started asking me about my interest in EDM after he heard my ringtone go off, which at the time was a clip of Deadmau5's “Hi Friend”. He told me of a concert he was going to attend at Webster Hall of his favorite DJ, Skrillex. I knew one track from him, which I did enjoy. I immediately downloaded more tracks from Skrillex and instantly fell in love. At my job, at the time, I had gone to Youtube and started listening to a Skrillex track. A co-worker heard it and exclaimed in excitement that he was one of her favs. I ended up going to that Skrillex show and something inside me changed.
There was something about the crowd, the energy, the environment that sucked me into a new obsession. That same friend from middle school randomly asks me if I would want to go to Ultra Music Festival in Miami. I laughed at first, thinking a trip to Miami for a music festival in March would be unfeasible and ridiculous. I looked into UMF and learned that it was one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the US, with people flying in from not only all over the US, but from worldwide. I looked at the lineup and found many foreign DJ's I liked. I started shuffling through all the DJs I didn't know and my desire to attend UMF grew exponentially. Talking to people about it, it was one of those things everyone wanted to go to, but distance, money and school got in the way.
Somehow, after continuing to look into UMF and discussing with Gio (friend from middle school) along with coworkers, a solid group of willing individuals emerged. This ended up becoming the most random group of friends and acquaintances, who now share a special bond. We've got an exciting summer ahead of us with a list of shows to hit up :)
