So. My hula hoops I ordered came in two weeks ago. Practiced for the most part everyday for just a quick 15-minutes for the first week. Mostly when i get home from work and when I have to go between my room and the kitchen and decide to pick it up for a few minutes. It’s fun, and challenging. I’ve learned to hoop on the hips, and how to control it from waist down to hips and then bringing it up to the chest without hands within the first three days. I could not hoop on the chest/torso for the life of me the first week. Then, I figured out how to bring it up and do like two loops, but couldn’t keep the momentum going. A day later, got the momentum down :)
And now, I've managed to bruise my middle finger today. How? Flippin’ too many bitches off. No, not really. Decided to hoop for 1.5hours and messed up a transition; tried to catch the hoop and somehow my finger got the damage. Haha, I have no idea. But felt great listening to an Essential Mix from Laidback Luke and dancing my buns off. Progress today: improved control of position of hoop around upper thigh to under the pits :) Also playing around with bumping right shoulder in from neck-hooping. Not so fly on the left side yet… Then comes bringing arms down and finally being able to hoop around body & arms. Definitely boogied out to the music moving about the empty space of the living room today, considering it was a long session. Oh, also playing around with angling the hoop. Fun stuff~
Gotta keep working on transitions and hand tricks too (this is limited as i don’t have much space to work in atm). I’m making progress! I’m sure I still look silly hooping; but getting the moves down is the hard part anyway! Once i get things down, hello, non-stop dance-hooping!
