Magic of Music

It’s gotten to the point where sometimes, I can’t think without music. I think it first stemmed from the noisy house if I live in. If I wanted to get any work completed in high school, I either had to leave my house or close my door and put on some music. Most of the time, the first option wasn’t available so I ended up staying home and blasting music into my headphones so I can get rid of the distraction. In the beginning, it was a little better than my brother screaming however it was still a small distraction however I kind of learned to zone it out but still listen to the melody in the back of my head.

I think I started listening to rap music. That was the music that I used to get my work done but the problem was that it contained too much vocals. I would go to write an essay and get sidetracked by the words that they were using. Well, over time I changed my music genre to more of a techno and electro one. It works a lot better because I get the background music without the distraction on the vocals. It works wonders for me and I don’t think ill ever go back to the old way.

HOotie HoO Readers,

I'm chillen right now and jammin to some music, not noise, to music. I finished my work and just hanging out till our meeting tonight. Contrary to popular belief, I actually do all of my work and get pretty decent grades. With the exception of math, everything else I can get done pretty alright. I just do my ish during the day inbetween classes and the fact that i'm a natural writer helps, so I usually just bang all my assignments pretty quickly.

Anywho I just wanted to say how much I love music. I'm pretty ecletic to start off, but today my ipod has just been shuffling so phenominally. I think I'm just in a good mood, because my future husband wrote me a Valentine's wish on facebook, and texted me a few sweet lil nothings. Shamefully, i creeped his profile to make sure he didn't write on any other biddies walls- he didn't :) . My best friend from home and my hubby are coming to visit this weekend too! Can you say shit show? I can not wait.

Back to the music, here's a sampling of who came on during today's shuffle. Joplin, K.West, The Pixies, The Darkness, Minaj, Jay-Z, The Pogues, Down with Websters, The Doors, Ice-Cube, Simple Plan, and you know some good ole Bruce Springstein (Jersey Hero)

This was written awhile ago in my online journal, and im just posting it now...so even though Tuesday night has not happened yet, this was a past Tuesday night.

Its the afternoon after Tuesday night @ UCafe and I feel great. Set up an appointment with my Math Prof who also goes to my chuch, so hopefully he'll grade me like the angel that I am. other than math giving me the usual hell that it is, I'm really bustin ass this semester with the rest of my grades. Due to all the drama with "screwed" last semester, my grades were dismal, and thats not an excuse. I feel like I failed myself and I'm not okay with that. Me & this bitch called GPA are gonna battle for awhile, I Will Be Victorious. Probably switching my major to History.

I just spent another 200 @ the bookstore, on a smattering of subjects, none of them for my classes. Books, Music, and Movies are a bit of a high for me- Scratch that, I think culture is a high and I find these to be the best mediums to to experience it, besides living obviously.

Last night me and 2 other rooks went to Ucafe, our campus bar, and we had a blast. I can see how it gets tiring for the older people who no longer go, but we had fun dancing& drinking& mingling. K & Dre are mad fun to hang out with, all the guy vet rugby players were there too, along wihth some other campus comrades. It was great.

The Bamboozle, 2011

This past weekend I had the opportunity to once again attend one of my favorite music festivals of the year, The Bamboozle. For those who aren't familiar with the event, Bamboozle is a three day musical "carnival" in the parking lots of the New Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey. Hundreds of bands and musical artists of all genres play throughout each day on a number of different stages scattered around at various set times. Merchandise, from promo shirts to glass pipes, is sold at dozens of tents around the venue.
Of course, once the band starts to play, things start to get chaotic; huge crowds form around the stage with strangers of mutual musical interest packed against each other, and "Pits" are formed where people dance wildly or kick the shit out of everyone they meet (I actually had the misfortune of accidentally punching a random girl in the face, I really couldn't do anything about it).
I totally recommend the festival to everyone who loves music, as many genres are represented and it is simply impossible not to have a memorable and stellar time.
