Dreams vs Reality

At what point to we determine dreams from reality? I think dreams reflect alot on what a person is going through. My family and friends think that I'm crazy for believing alot of what happens in crazy dreams. I really feel like there is a lot of truth behind dreams. Sometimes they really don't make sense if you think about them but everything your mind is thinking (dreaming) must come from someplace whether you noticed or experienced something during the day and didn't even realize it when it happened. Your mind unconsciously remembers things that you don't even realize and that can reflect in dreams.
How many times do you realize that you absolutely cannot fall asleep because you're laying there for hours thinking about all the things that are going on in your life or thinking up situations that are not real? When you think about things a long time before you fall asleep, you tend to not dream. However, when I fall asleep as soon as I lay down, I notice that I have lots of dreams that night. I think that when your mind doesn't go through the meltdown before you fall asleep, it will automatically do it as a dream or a nightmare.
The other night I had this crazy dream that my boyfriend was into another girl and cheated on me. I remembered this particular girl but I couldn't remember where she was from. I guess I unconsciously picked up on it one night that we were out. Anyway, I woke up thinking of "how crazy and make belief" the dream was. That same day, I received a PICTURE MESSAGE of my boyfriend with another girl, that very one from my dream. At first I was shocked, totally blown away at the whole thing. I couldn't believe that this dream was turning into reality, was it a hint? My boyfriend claimed otherwise, but I had the hard evidence on my phone and absolutely do not put up with bullcrap. Anyway, you can say that relationship ended pretty fast.

Cheating is a socialized taboo

One of the biggest issues that arise in young couples is cheating. When I say young I am refering to ages 15-22 give or take. I assume that after 22 someone is looking for a relationship that will eventually lead to marriage. Most young people fight and break-up over cheating or the threat of cheating. Most young couples fight over text messages/calls/facebook posts from the opposite sex. Why are we so worried that the one we love will "betray" us by cheating? I will tell you why..because we are YOUNG and in our prime. We should be allowed to wonder what it would be like with someone esle because young relationships is about finding what you want for a future spouse. I am not an advocate of cheating, I just believe that young relationships should be set up differently. We are socialized to believe that when you commit to a person you are bound to them and only them for that amount of time and if you go out of your boundrys you are unfaithful and a bad person. I think that us young people should date. I am not saying lie to your partner and see others behind their back, but young relationships should be open. It would prevent alot of people from being hurt and if you really love someone you can become serious at a later time and form an exclusive relationship. We are trained to be hurt if our other decides to pursue someone esle, but what if it was acceptable and everyone in society had a "young relationship" and you could speak about that person saying..I think one day he is the one I will be monogous with.. or .. I am still looking. It would save alot of dreadful breakups and fights.
Take someone like myself who has been with my boyfriend for 5, almost 6 years. We started dating our junior year of high school! We both cheated the first year of college and it was heartbreaking. We broke up for a little while and ended up back together. I love him to death but I still wonder what it would be like to be on my own or even to date someone esle. We are really good together and I could see myself with him in my future but I dont want to have to "wonder". All I am saying is now would of been a good time to start getting serious with him.. not when i was 17! The whole system should be redesigned.

My Relationship

My boyfriends name is Justin. He was born and raised in Mastic, New York. I met him through his cousin whom I went to high school with. Everyone wanted to date Katarina's cousin. She would bring him to high school parties and girls would flock to his "bad boy charm". I was the winner, he fell in love with me. For a while he was my prize. After high school our relationship evovled and through plenty of scandals we managed to stay together. He went on to build his sprinkler business and I went to college. Our differences began to be and still are the major cause of our conflicts. Our differing values, morals, and family life are huge. Where Justin is from violence, backstabbing and theft among others things occur between so-called friends. He has never had anyone real in his life besides me. His parents are great but they have taught him to get by and in order to do so , you do what you have to do. You should of seen the look on my moms face when he told her his business tactics, which I won't give away.. I get angry with his lack of caring for people other then myself and his mother. I am now in my third year of college and our relationship has done a 360. In high school I looked up to him. Now I feel like he feels that he is becoming inferior to me. I try not to correct him anymore when his vocabulary is totally off, but making our relationship work has become a job. I love him but I really do not know how we made it this far. Is class reproduction to blame? Maybe a little. Perhaps the fact that he was raised completely different from me and hangs around people who my mom would shun defiantly has an impact. In sociological thinking I would be in a relationship "outside of my group". However I do not think it is the root to our problems.

Quit While You're Ahead

The other day, I had the pleasure of experiencing the awkward moment of being in the room while my roommate and her boyfriend had an argument over something menial. Despite the fact that I tried to tune them out and ignore them, I couldn't help but overhear tidbits of their conversation as I sat in my chair attempting to do my homework -- to no avail, they were awfully distracting!

What I've learned from their fighting is that although both parties had good points, they both had flaws in their arguments. Nobody likes admitting that they're wrong, but having to hear their constant bickering back and forth was giving me and headache. I realized that as we become more comfortable with people, a rebuttal such as "Because I want to" or "Well why can't I?" now becomes perfectly valid -- kind of like the dynamic between teenagers and their parents. What is it about our egos that makes it so hard to swallow our pride and apologize or admit that we were wrong?

For me, on several occasions, I know that I could have avoided putting myself into a bad situation had I just apologized instead of trying to prove my blatantly incorrect point. I suppose it's something we all inherently understand, but our stubborn selves won't let us actually put this knowledge into action.

Media as a Life Perserve

Hey guys. Within the last few weeks, we have been on the dicussion of media such as Facebook and and Twitter and how it allows us to interact with the people around us. Wether it be asking a classmate for some lecture notes on Facebook or watching a class that you cant attend on Skype, we all know that media has evolved. The problem is, however, that it controls soo much of my life that i wouldnt be able to continue one of the most important aspects of my life if it werent for the constant innovation.

Me and my girlfriend have been dating for three years now. We started back in highschool and had an unusual story of how we met. Dont judge me but she is the bosses daughter for the part time job i have been working for. It was just a teenage relationship a the time however it has evolved into way more due to the technology that has been developed. Most of my friends consider me crazy becuase none of them had been able to keep their relationships after high school and for that matter salvage any relationships at all.

At first, it was visits. She decided to go to school in Maryland (about 4 hrs away) and it was hard. I was always busy and could barely see her 2 times a semester. We then, inadventently, decided to rely on text messaging which made it easier to communicate and gave me a sense of what she was doing. In the end, we both moved to Skype (and thank god for skype). We can now have facetime which is probably the most important aspect of any relationship. We talk at least once a week and we both love it. Seeing her face is just not comparable to anything else we have used in the past. So to anyone thinking about a long distance relationship, you can do it! Just make sure you have the right tools and the technology to save you when your sinking.

Sam vs. Ron Jersey Shore

Every week we all sit down and watch Jersey Shore. It's really annoying how the entire show is now based around Sam and Ron's shit relationship. Enough breaking up and getting back together, its so rediculous. I don't know how they believe they're "In Love" when all they do is fight. Seriously, have any of us seen them have fun, EVER? Being in a relationship with someone is about having a great time, sharing experiences and making each other happy, completly opposite of Sam and Ron. Every other week they have a fight that has to be broken up by mutual parties in the "Shore House" and then at the end of the night, somehow, they end up in bed together. Honestly, if any of you got into a fight that bad with your boyfriend/girlfriend, would you even consider jumping into bed with them that very night? I don't think so. Jealousy has completely taken over their relationship and they can't even see the good side to anything. They don't enjoy each other's company and no matter what activity they are doing it always ends up the same way, a huge fight. The rest of the house has to suffer, listen and deal with their realationship bullshit. Sam and Ron have no respect for "The Situation" and I find it so disrespectful to act like that when they share a room with him.

I really want the show to get rid of them so that we can see them all go out and have a great time at the clubs and so that Sammy stops raising my blood pressure because she makes stupid decisions. She over reacts to everything, takes everything out of perspective and always needs the attention. I hope that she finally just leaves for good and never comes back to the shore house. This is the "Jersey Shore" not the "Sam and Ron" show.

Poor Jenny had a worse breakup with her boyfriend, yet there was only one episode on that. Jenny's ex boyfriend is a complete asshole. To trash her house is one thing, but taking her belongings that are sentimental, like her family photos, is completely unacceptable. I think all guys should know that is way over the line, no matter how mad you are at someone. Leaving her dogs unattended to starve to death is so inhumane.

I think that so many people are in such unhealthy relationships. You can't keep feeding a relationship with negativity or it will get so much worse and you will be in over your head before you know it. You can make yourself physically sick if you stay in bad relationships and its completely unhealthy. I believe that whatever happens in a relationship, should stay in that relationship. When you start to tell people everything and everyone knows your business, it becomes complicated. It's so important to keep the lust and mystery in a relationship beacuse that's what keeps the two individuals interested and on top of their toes.
