Carefree Worries

Of all the ones that came before her
They just filled me up with more and more hurt
Worlds of pain is what they’ve caused me
An end is all i hoped that i’d see
I’d given up in desperation
Cheated into settling for desolation
So i lived the life of a hermit
As to not let any love permit
But in that world of silenced emotion
Formed something that friendship learned to grow from
Now she’s what i care for most
worrying constantly she’ll become a ghost

This is yet another poem about my girlfriend. Basically how all of the girls before her hurt me in some way and how i'm constantly afraid of not only her doing the same but her health because she is ill. Even though she's different from the rest in that our relationship has a strong foundation in friendship, and i know that she truly loves me and would never do anything to jeopardize that i still worry because of the past but at the same time she makes being in love with her carefree

Poem written for me

This pass Valentines Day, me and my girlfriend exchanged gifts, and we made the same exact gift. I had trouble at first, deciding what to make. I did a bit of searching, and asked around, but I finally got an answer. It was to compile reasons of why I was with her. It is a jar full of reasons why one likes the other. They both came attached with a large poem. This is her poem :

Because you've doubted in the past
Just how long my love would last
I put some reasons down in ink
so its easy for you to think.
Well some are reasons, some are facts
Hopefully they explain how I act
I know I'm difficult and hard to please
But you make loving a whole new ease.
In this holds only a few reasons for which I love you

So when you're down and I'm not there
Just read these and you'll be aware
Aware of why my crazy heart
would never even dare to part
From someone just as wonderful as you
Each and everyone of these hold true
Though some silly and some salacious
It's because you make me so vivacious
By opening this you imply consent
To know I meant the best of intent

Changing

I came into college thinking that I wanted to be a doctor, but my mind has changed (not a surprise, I know). For some time I have wanted to be a marine biologist, but my parents always told me there was nothing to be done there. Then I thought to myself, it's my life, I can do what I want. I'm changing my major, and I think I'm going to try to double major. I want to major in Marine Biology and Biochemistry. This will surely kill me with the work load. But my dream is to do this, so why should I stop? If I could have my dream job after college, I'd work with sharks. Sharks interest me especially because of their immunity to AIDS, and strong cancer shield.

Romeo and Juliet

I saw a remake of Romeo and Juliet over the weekend. It was directed by Baz Luhrmann. It starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes as the star crossed lovers. It kept the original text, and this was one of the main things I liked about the movie. It took place in Verona Beach, something I found funny (being that the play is set in Verona, Italy). I really liked Mercutio's character, played by Harold Perrineau, he was very psychotic. I think that both DiCaprio and Danes played Romeo and Juliet beautifully. Most old plays that are adapted to the big screen come out horrible, but this movie definitely does not.
My favorite scene in the movie is when Romeo and Juliet first meet. They are staring at one another through a fish tank. Meanwhile there is this song playing that fits the scene beautifully. The song itself was a great song. The scene continues as Romeo proclaims his feelings to Juliet and the run around a mansion, sneaking into elevators, and eventually getting separated. The whole time this scene is going on, the song changes pace to match the two lovers.

The Single Beat

Boom
Never felt like this before
Gazing, eyes begin to explore
Sweaty hands because of you
This is odd, this is new
Fingers running down my back
Thoughts are racing, they begin to stack
Lips grow closer, my body goes numb
To your touch, I will succumb
My eyes close, it's dark
Waiting for your kiss to provide the spark
They meet, such tenderness
My mind now becomes a mess
The words "I love you" are composed
Now, at this instant, my heart goes
Boom
This is one of the many poems I've written for my girlfriend. Written early on in the relationship my feelings were new and, well to say the least, explosive. The "Boom" in the beginning and end is supposed to be my heartbeat, and the lines between them are the thoughts and feelings I have for her between each one of my heart beats. This is one of her favorites.

New Years Eve

It’s almost time for a change of pace

A brand new year, in our face

Headed to a celebration

Quite a grand occasion

Party hats, and streamers too

Probably going to lose my cool

The countdown starts, everybody together

A night we will always remember

The clock strikes midnight, everybody rejoices

There are even people yelling at the top of their voices

It’s a new year to start with her

As the years pass they become a blur

Six months into the relationship with my girlfriend, we spend New Years Eve at her best friend's annual New Years Party in Huntington. It was the first consecutive 48 hours I spent with her. I will remember this night especially because she gave me something I will always cherish, a chain with two dog-tags. On one side of the first dog-tag it says "Te Amo," on the reverse: "Mahal Kita," on the other tag it says "I Love You," reverse "GAME." She loves me in my first language, her first language, both our second language, and our inside joke of "The Game."

Halloween

Halloween has come upon us

Costumes will become a must

Making plans with friends

Many parties to attend

I’ve made plans with my girl

To eat enough food to hurl

Dressing up as our favorite Disney couple

Jasmine and Aladdin is who we doubled

Her costume made with care and time

Mine made in haste, a fashion crime

Halloween this year was great

Because this year I had a date

The Halloween of 2009 was probably my best Halloween. I got to dress up with my girlfriend as Aladdin and Jasmine. We did a parade at school and went to a Halloween party afterward. It will be a day that will stay with me forever.

Parting

Even though our love was new

Too soon we had to bid adieu

She was whisked to some far off place

Mine was quite a different case

Letting someone go when love is true

It’s truly a hard thing to do

When they leave it feels like forever

Heart cut deep, almost severed

But there always is a light of hope

Which makes it easier to cope

She’ll be back again someday soon

Until then I truly bid adieu

I wrote this poem during the most recent summer that passed. My girlfriend was going out of the country for awhile, and I decided to write about it, instead of just frustrating myself with thinking about it. It was silly because I knew she was going to come back anyway.

Walking Her Home in the Rain

It was time for her to go home

Our time was up; I was bound to be alone

She got her stuff, and was at the door

That is when it began to pour

I grabbed my jacket, and she her umbrella

Glad to know that I was her fella

Out into the nasty storm

Prince Charming, I took his form

We walked with haste in the rain

Her inevitable departure, just brings pain

Finally got her home

Just to return to be alone

I wrote this after coming home soaked one night from walking my girlfriend home. My dad had taken the car that night, and she needed to get home, so I walked her. Just as we were about to go, it started to pour.

First Date

Made the call weeks ago

The day has come for us to go

Take a shower, and get ready

Quivering hands will not steady

Driving to the movie theater

Still sweating, turning down the heater

There she stood, all gussied up

Speechless, just my luck

Paying for the movie tickets

Chivalry isn’t dead? Is it?

As we went to take our seats

It was time for our hands to meet

I wrote this poem after having my first date with my girlfriend, we went to see Transformers 2 at the multiplex near my house. It was a good night.... I thought. I later found out that she was uncomfortable in her chair throughout the whole movie.

Poems by Diego

I have kept a poem book for the past few years, and thought I would share some.

Biking with Jen

Cycling through the forest fast

Watching from my seat as the trees pass

Wind whipping at our faces

As we pass our favorite places

We ride together, not alone

This day could last forever, no need to go home

We come upon our destination

Both dying of starvation

Laying a blanket on the sand

Sun beating down, leaving us tanned

We stare out into the ocean

Love is an emotion in motion

I wrote this poem, the first time I went to the beach with my girlfriend. There is a bike path where I live that takes you directly to the beach. We had ridden to the beach and had a picnic there.

Story Excerpt 2 of 2

Six Flags Trip

Ever since the Six Flags trip was mentioned, Penny had incessantly nagged me to sit next to her on the bus. Reluctantly appeasing her wishes for some reason even unknown to myself, I would jokingly say “fine, you can be my pillow for the two hour trip… oh yeah, and by the way, I have a sever case off mouth droolage…” in the hopes that she would give up her useless vendetta. The day of the trip, it rained, hard. I walked, ran, to the school to catch the bus. And I lived far away from that wretched building that claimed to be a school. Just in time to make the bus but not so late enough to find that she had found a bus-buddy. The only seats she could save for “us”; all the way in the back, next to the toilet.

It was not as painful as I thought it would be; sitting next to the girl I had been pining for all year long. She was always smiling next to me, laughing, and making awkward conversation, it’s what I like about her most. I liked her, too much. The whole day was filled with laughing and screaming on rides where she just happened to keep sitting next to me. Everyone knew we liked each other, and so did we. But the day ended like any other one with her in it; without her.

Story Excerpt 1 of 2

I have been writing a story, and thought I would share some of it. It is a story about a boy who falls in love with a girl in his Physics class, but it takes forever for a move to be made. It is loosely based on a true story. I won't say if its me, but I was there for all of the events in the true story.

Meeting Again

Oliver walked upstairs from his French class and started searching for his Physics class. He finally reached the door where something in his life would change greatly, he was about to learn physics. Oliver walked in, but could not find a seat anywhere. All the seats in the room were set up so the class would sit in pairs. He knew that he did not want to sit alone, but he did not want to sit with anyone that would drag him down. Oliver stood there and pondered for a moment. He got it, he would sit at an empty table and hoped that one of his friends would be in the same physics class.

Oliver sat and waited while the room filled. Yet none of his friends were coming in. Oliver thought, “ They all probably have the afternoon class.” Just at that moment, a girl walked in. She had long dark hair with a purple stripe in it, her jeans were tight, and she wore a bright red top. Oliver had seen this girl before, but this time was different. His breathing sped up, his face was flushed, and his hands were two pools of water. His seat was the only one left, and the girl began to walk towards him. She sat down next to him. Oliver mustered all the strength he had to say “Hello, I’m Oliver.” She responded “Sup, I’m Penny.”

Metropolitan Museum

Today I went to the Metropolitan Museum. I went to every exhibit, but my favorites have to be the Greek and Art exhibits. The Greek exhibit was very interesting because they had art from Ancient Greece and its advancement throughout time. They also had Greek armor, which I found very interesting because they were sculpted to look like a person's body. One of the guards told me that Greeks were the only ones to ever create armor that looked that way. The Greek statues were also very impressive. The one downside to the statues though was that most of them were broken. Most of the statues were either missing half a face or had another area broken off. My favorite statue though was of Heracles with his Lion skin draped over his head; what really captured me about the statue was the hand, and its incredible detail. It was as if I was looking at a real human hand.
The painting exhibit was my next favorite and totally blew me away. To see all these brilliant paintings was truly astonishing. The different techniques, the colors, the subjects really differentiated each painter from one another. There were pictures that were so abstract that interpretation was left up to the viewer, and there were other pictures that were so well done, they appeared to be real people. My favorite painting was one that was made up of a bunch of little dots to form a picture. This was my favorite painting because it made me wonder, how was this done? To paint a picture by making so many dots to form a picture can only be described as incredible.

Human Centipede

I've recently watched the film "Human Centipede." I'm not sure if many people have seen it, it is a Dutch film. Personally, I decided to watch this film because the title raises questions. "Human Centipede?" What could that possibly mean? I know what a centipede looks like, but a human centipede sounds really odd. The film starts off with two American teens touring Europe. On one specific night they decide to go to a party, and their car breaks down in the woods. They walk around to get help and stumble upon Josef Mengele's residence. He strongly dislikes other humans, but allows them to come inside. The girls never leave the house, and fall victim to his dastardly deed.
Most people find this film scary and somewhat disturbing. Personally, I found this film to be very interesting; It let you dive into a sick man's mind. There are also parts in the film where the victims are faced with moral conflicts. One of the girls has the choice of fleeing without her friend, or going back for her friend and possibly giving up the chance of freedom. This made me think, in that situation who would I go back for? If it were me and someone I cared about (i.e. my girlfriend, my brother, my mother), would I go back? The actor playing the deranged doctor plays his part beautifully. He, alone, makes the film the horrifying adventure, that it is. I would definitely recommend anyone who is into horror, or foreign films to watch this. It is a very good movie, and will leave you with questions that may possibly never be answered.

Video Idea # 1

Me and my roommate get random ideas for videos constantly, and we've recently stumbled upon something that seems a bit difficult, but at the same time, would be really cool to film. It would be called "Fun with Beards." We would used beards as the main point in our video and just have fun with it. For example, we had one idea where a man with a beard would be sitting at a table and then someone comes up and starts a fight with him. When the man gets punched he gets knocked down to the ground. When he comes up, part of his beard is missing in the shape of a fist. We had another idea where two people walk into each other and one of them does not have a beard. When they bump they both fall to the ground. When they both come back up, they beard has switched over from one person to the other. Other ideas we've had for this video was for someone to fall asleep on a pillow, and wake up with their beard now on the pillow.
This idea came to us while we were just sitting in our room, and I hadn't shaven in awhile. I think it could be a successful video, but it will take a lot of work if we decide to use real beards, instead of a prop. Well, if the video ever does come out, Blogger will be one of the first to know.

Dad's Comic

This is the ComicLife I made with the pictures from the family project we were doing in ACH 102. I mostly used pictures of my family and some off the internet.

The Big Bang Theory

This is one of my favorite shows on TV right now, and I thought I'd let people know about it. It follows two roommates, Sheldon and Leonard, and their two friends, Raj and Howard. They are very nerdy and constantly make very in depth science jokes. Sheldon, my favorite character, is extremely smart, graduating from college at 16. He undermines his friends constantly, and is extremely nerdy. He is oblivious of others and does not understand human emotions. Sheldon and his group of friends frequently engage in nerdy schedule activities: going to the comic book store, playing Halo every Wednesday, and a lot of sci fi shows like Star Trek.
The group's routine gets ruined when they get a new next door neighbor, Penny. She is a very attractive young blond, who catches Leonard's eye. She begins to hangout with the group, but can not seem to connect with them because they are just on another intellectual level. Sheldon thinking he is superior to everyone constantly pokes fun at Penny. Penny brings a new element to the group and changes things up for them as well.
All in all, this show is pretty good. It has a lot of hilarious jokes if you understand the content. The actors play their parts beautifully, and some have won several awards. Personally, this is one of my favorite shows, and will be for awhile.

Black Butler

I am an avid fan of anime, and just came upon a new anime recently. It's called Black Butler. The anime takes place in Victorian England. It follows the story of a boy named Ciel who has inherited his parents fortune after they have been killed in a fire. Ciel was also supposed to die, but made a pact with a demon, Sebastian. He offered the demon his soul in return for helping find his parent's murderers. The pact was made and Sebastian serves Ciel as his butler until their deal has been met.
This is an anime I would suggest for people who like something more serious then playful. It is not something that is "happy go lucky." At times there is excessive blood, so those who don't like blood, this is not for you. The anime also consist of a lot of dark humor. All in all it is a somewhat dark, supernatural anime.

Textures of Time

Well I did the textures of time assignment, and it was really fun. Not only was deciding what to film fun, but then editing and deciding from what angle you wanted to film it was fun. Overall, this was an exciting assignment and I enjoyed making and editing it, with the help of my friends. I hope those who watch it enjoy it as much as I did making it.
