When your finished...

One thing i plan on doing when i'm done, well, it's simple! My all time favorite thing to do is go to local and small music venues in Brooklyn, crack open PBR ( a personal favorite of Baldwin) and just enjoy the night. This is my favorite thing to do in NY. I am thinking of moving to Chicago next year and so i cherish these moments even more now. There is something unique about the place we live, and i dont think enough people understand that. So many people are stuck on long island. Dont get me wrong, long island is an awesome place, but there is so much more out there, especially in our other boroughs. So get out there, that is of course if you over 21 :)

Pet Peeves

Everybody has them. You know, those annoying little things that drive you insane. Well mine are thrown in my face almost daily.
My first pet peeve occurs at work. Whenever i cough, my boss says "bless you" or even if i clear my throat he says it. Okay? Im sorry...did i sneeze? No, i dont think so, so why are saying bless youuuuuu??? Drives me insane, i almost try not to cough. My second pet peeve also occurs at work. This comes from when my boss offers me something, and i say "no im good" he never fails to say this one lines that makes me cringe...and that is "that's not what i asked". OMG ITS A FIGURE OF SPEECH. Drive me nuts. My third and final pet peeve is when people bite their nails and then chew on it, dear god. I cant! thinking about my pet peeves is making me cringe. Next topic please :)

the Governator's love child!

As rumors were swirling that Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wide were seperating, it recently came out in the news that Schwarzenegger was the father of a ten-year-old love child. This is wrong is soooo many ways. I could only begin to imagine the betrayal his wife and children must feel. To go that long with this secret is bound to conjure up some deep trust issues to say the least. Lying, cheating, and personal interest ! looks like he was in fact cut out to be a politician after all. What a shame...and he is supposed to be a model citizen.

Great Outdoors

When i am not working, which is rare, i love to get outside. I recently in that past year took up mountain biking. A whole world i didn't know existed. Behind these highways in long island, queens and Brooklyn are wooded areas that have bike paths. It is it's little community. it really is amazing all the things that you will discover when you take some time out to relax and take up hobbies. So i encourage all of you to take up a new hobbie this sumer, you will be surprised of all the things you have been missing.

What makes you committed!

I recently read an excellent study that was examining why people stay committed better then others. This study examined why people can encounter others who are good looking, smile at them, even talk to them, but not cheat on their spouse. According to this this research, it has to do with cognitive control. These researchers think that some individuals are better than others at controlling those innate feelings of attractions. Those who are better at controlling those feelings, and understand that they are in a long term committed relationship, are less likely to cheat. Not exactly a novel idea, kind of obvious, but scientific data always helps. Maybe tiger woods needed this.

Mommy? What's rape?

I wanted to share a rather interesting experience that i had the other day. So i work as a nanny for a family that recently lost their mother to cancer. It is a tough job, rather sad from time to to time. But the nice part is that they have a network of support. Namely, from their neighbors. The neighbors watch the children often. Last week, in return they asked if their children could spend some time at my boss's house. They have two young girls, the youngest is 6. She is totally adorable, very sweet and tiny tiny tiny. She was sitting next to me at my desk, she like to do her work with me. It was at this time that she turned to me, looked up at me with these adorable little eyes and asked what "rape" meant... i had no words.

Clinical Psych !

Not everybody finds their calling. I am so grateful that i did. According to my mom i knew i wanted to be a clinical psychologist from the time i was young. She told me about a time when i was younger in which i was telling her i wanted to be a clinical psychologists. Apparently i knew back then. But the point behind all of this is that you should never limit yourself. Ever! No matter what people tell you, or what that negative voice in your head tells you that you can't do. The minute i silenced that voice, i head it loud and clear, and i found exactly what it was i love to do. Having something you are passionate about is truly a blessing..when you find it, don't limit yourself.

Forgot a final...oh snap!

In the past five years that i have been in college, i have never has this happen to me, but i guess it was bound to happen... YUP !! I forgot a freaking exam ! i woke up this morning, in a rather good mood, ate breakfast, walked around my house leisurely, and then at around 12 i sat down to study. It was a that moment that i notice right at the bottom of a document that one of my exams was in 2 HOURS !! I thought that this exam was on a thursday. Don't know how this happened. My jaw dropped, i live an hour away from school !! At that moment i though i was finished. But rather then panic ( okay i panicked) i changed out of my pajamas and ran out the room. I made it...wasn't all that happy with the results, but whatever i get i it's better then a zero. Praying for a miracle.

Jimmy McMillian is hysterical and he doesn't even try

For those of you that are not familiar with Jimmy McMillian, he is , by his WIki definition: " an American political activist, perennial candidate, Vietnam War veteran, karate expert, as well as a former postal worker and private investigator from Brooklyn, New York" That resume is not only completely random, but completely hysterical to. How it goes from Political activists to Karate expert is just elusive. He is also the founder of "the rent is to damn high" political party...enough said. Nonetheless, this guy claims he is running for president in the 2012 elections, this truly is the land of the free.

Cinderllelaphant: a love story

So, my friend has this dog named Brooklyn. He has such a big personality. He is the center of attention always. But a consequence of this big personality is that he is a handful. Nonetheless, he has this stuffed elephant, who has been named Cinderllelaphant. Every time a girl comes over, he gets that elephant and has his way with it...does he think he's auditioning or something. It's so funny. This little dog has so much testosterone. CHECK OUT BROOKLYN IN ACTION HERE!!!

The Worlds Scariest Cats.

The other day i stopped at my friends apartment to feed her cats. She was away for work and was concerned that her cats were hungry. I always knew these cats were not the friendliest, but i didn't know they were psycho, particularly, when they are hungry. So we recorded this video because we though it was funny. However, their owner, my friend, did not find it so funny. She was actually really upset, she though i was stressing her cats out...they were stressing me out, they made me go hide in the bathroom. Those kitties need anger management. WATCH HERE TO SEE FOR YOURSELF

Girl Vs. Food

Weighing in at 100 LBS is this 18 year old girl. I had to share this with you all. This burger was almost the same size of her head. It weighted about 5 LBS. The insane part is that she ate this whole thing. It's amazing that someone so tiny could eat something so big. What is notable here, is that portions this large are even available. It's just outright unhealthy, but painfully entertaining. Luckily, she is only 18, i give her a good 10 years till those epic burgers catch up.

Brain Waves = Good Time

Technology has offered many fun things. But there is something extra special, to me at least, about neurological technology. Perhaps because the brain is the area i am dedicated to studying, but i find it to be to be an amazing organ. On this particular day, we were using a device which works by reading brain waves. The electrodes showed different states of arousal. Check it out in the photos below.

Rehearsal Fun!

The rehearsal was an early opportunity for all the ideas cultivated this semester to be put into action. Prof. Baldwin was very engaged in this work, and enthusiastic. The actors did an excellent job. All of the supplementing groups like film, space, devices and music were able to further collaborate. Check out the photos from this event as everyone put final preparations together before the show.

Sat @ The Tank. Pic 2

This was another one of my favorite. The way in which he told his story seemed almost innate...it did not seem rehearsed, or exaggerated, or romanticized, rather it seemed real, relatable and raw. I appreciate that sort of story telling. For that moment, whoever is telling you a story is giving you a piece of them, a piece that they carry with them everyday. I think that we need to appreciate that about one and other, and art is great way to go about it...awesome work !!

Sat @ The Tank. Pic 1

I loved this women's performance, mainly because it was so unexpected. That is what i love about art shows in general, the sheer uniqueness you will find. i go to shows in Brooklyn often and appreciate the same sort of "out of the box" performance. Her performance wasn't "safe" or reserved by any means ... and i love that :)

Nook is your friend !!

I know i know, many of you hate the nook, or the kindle or any type of E-readers for that matter. I know what you all say, "it doesn't smell like a book", " it doesn't feel like a book" , "you can turn its page", "you cant bend a page over" etc..etc... etc.. Well you know what a nook can do ..A) save you money B) save you time going to the book store and C) Save you space because you wont have all these books laying around. I don't get it, why do much contention. I love my nook, i read all the time on it, and the best part is the books are at my finger tips and super cheep. "All we are saying is give nook a chance "

One day you may be a parent...

One thing that was salient while looking though family photos, is that one day, my children will look at pictures i look last week, and laugh... just as i laughed at my parents. We are living the moments that our parents reminisce about, moments that don't even seem real to us. After all, it is hard to imagine out parents spent all these years living with out us. I just think the whole concept of childbearing is pretty crazy. Crazy in a good way though. Isn't it insane that we have not yet "met" our children. This is not a person who is out there...this is a person who is waiting for you to make them. It's crazy that we can make other people... i make coffee, not people! It's is rather amazing when you think about it. I am sure there is no feeling like the feeling of being a parent. Finally getting to meet that mystery person, who you made. To my future children, "i cant wait to meet you"
