respect nature
I recently read an article about how in the US we are drilling into the plates and forcing high-pressure water through the rocks to release natural gases for resources. We are destroying the bedrock beneath us for fossil fuels, without really thinking about the long term damage destorying our land will have on us. Can we please stop destorying our delicate planet and live in harmony with it? Mother nature will continue to live on after the human race, just as it did before we existed. We are mearly a single species that will live on Earth for a fraction of its existence. I believe we should respect the land that nurtures us instead of continually destroying it. If we don't begin to change the way we care for our land, we are only bringing our demise closer and closer through our negative actions.
Surely, we are the only species with the brain capacity for reasoning and logic, making humans the "most intelligent" animal. But we are also the most damaging species to the planet. Animals see a plant or a tree as food or shelter; we see it as commodity and material goods. We will destroy a tree to make disposable paper. We have no respect for nature and its preservations. Continually, rainforests in Brazil are destroyed for lands to raise cattle on for our McDonalds burgers. Proper care for the land isn't implemented, as soil should be given off-seasons to recover. Instead we over-crop lands and destroy its rich soils, creating acres of unusable lands as nothing will grow in it anymore. We move on to the next patch of soil to destroy and mistreat.
So we possess knowledge. We possess the skills to reason. We can make complicated decisions. We can built skyscrapers and islands. We can alter properties of chemicals and collide particles. We can travel into space. But with every advancement we make, we are destroying the planet. Soon enough, we will come to realize that our time on Earth is limited, and then reflect upon the various ways we could have prevented it. By that time, it'll be too late to reverse the damage. The human race will quite possibly die out, and mother nature will spend centuries building back the damage we've caused. Sometimes I think animals are smarter and better than humans because they live life just to live. They respect nature. They create a circle of life, purpose to other specifies. I feel that all we know is how to kill and destroy everything and anything. People make me sad :(

Food and NUTRITION

Food, its what we need to survive. Nutrition its what we need to live longer. But is it really living if you've never indulged yourself? No doubt that this indulgence in some people has grown out of control. It consumes them as much as they consume it. It becomes a demon which holds onto you with a grasp stronger than any creature known to man. It feeds off you takes over your everyday life and eventually will take your life before your time is suppose to be up. This demon has no face, nor eyes, nor ears, it has no sympathy for anything. I have seen many men, women, and even children succumb to it. Gluttony is one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and with food and nutrition it is ever so prevalent.
Once caught in the grasp of the demon, it is not impossible to escape from it but it is no easy task for you will need the help of friends and family if you wish to conquer it. Throughout my life I have seen many people conquer this demon to see it just come back later. Once caught in the grasp it is hard to not get caught again. But as I said before friends and family have the power to help anyone. Food is not the enemy, the enemy lies within us. Each and everyone of us holds this demon inside the bowels of our souls. Though many seem to contain it with ease, there are even more who cannot.
It is becoming clear this demon in all of us, in this day and age, has slowly crept out and taking over our society. But we as a people must fight and defeat this evil. Nutrition is key to this battle. Not all food that is nutritious is bland as well. Many foods that are nutritious are as good as those indulgences we take in ever so often. I am not saying that you shouldn't indulge yourself once in a while, what I am saying is the exact opposite. You MUST indulge yourself to truly live!! But be wary that demon still lurks inside your soul and if your not careful it will consume you.

boxing days

I was going through my pictures on my computer, just trying to organize some things and I came across the picture above. It really got me thinking about the junior high school days. It's not something that you really think about everyday. Usually when people reflect back to their younger days, its either elementary school because that was a really long time ago, or its high school because thats where most of us were before college. But this picture had me thinking about the days in between those; junior high.
I actually still remember when this picture was taken. It was during the summer of 2003 if my memory serves me right. I believe that that would make me 14 at the moment. "Wow, time really flies" is what was going through my mind when looking at that picture. During that summer, my friends and I used to have these boxing matches at one of my friends house. His mom was never home during the day so no one besides us really knew what went on; I'm pretty sure that his mom wouldn't be too happy about us having boxing matches in her living room.
But yea, with regards to that picture above, I'm the one who is about to knock out my friend. I remember knocking him out pretty badly that day. He ended up pretty beat up by the end of that match. But it's not as bad as I'm probably making it sound. I'm not sure how visible it is in the picture, but the gloves we used to box were more like pillows wrapped in leather than boxing gloves. So as much as we tried to beat each other up, it really wasnt that violent at all. It was all in good fun. Good times.
