The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

“Youth is wasted on the young”- George Bernard. We always hear older people quoting this phrase and many of us understand what the words mean, but we don’t really grasp the underlining meaning of the phrase. The movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” is a good representation of this quote. The main character, Benjamin Button, which is played by Brad Pitt, starts out his life as an old man. At first no one really understands his condition, but as the years pass the people closest to him realize that he is becoming younger as the years pass. Throughout the movie he is ageing in years, but he becoming younger in physical appearance and health. He is able to enjoy his older age to a greater extent because he is wise of age but young of physique. The movie makes you think if maybe this is the best way of living? We all enjoy playing as a child and running around but realistically wouldn’t it be great to be able to have that kind of energy and charisma at the age of sixty, when you have learned through life experiences and are retired and can do whatever you want with the remainder of your life.
