Albinism

I recently watched a documentary on albinism, and how albinos are treated in different countries. Albinism is “defect of melanin production that results in little or no color (pigment) in the skin, hair, and eyes.” People with albinism have very light skin color so they cannot be exposed to the sun for too long without sun block.

In the documentary, that I saw it was mostly focused on the albino people in Africa. In a specific part of Africa albino are hunted and their limbs are cut off, because people they believe that albinos are not human and contain magical powers. The limbs that people cut off are brought to which doctors, who make it into some magic charm. People who bring albino limbs to the witch doctors can make a couple of thousand dollars, which is a lot more than they can usually make in a month doing regular jobs.

I found these stories about albino being killed in Africa very sickening. How can others murder someone who just looks different from them? Albinos are humans not some animal. And the people there are just to superstitious thinking that having a piece of an albino will help them catch more fish, or get better business, it is just ridiculous.
