TODAY ~

Such a long long day. I had class from 9:50AM and didn't get back in my room till 10PM. I had a rehersal for the China Blue singing contest which is this Thursday. Everyone should come check it out! It's this Thursday from 7PM-10PM! There will be entertainment and refreshments! It'll be a fun time!

So yes, today is my longest day. It was even longer because I only got 5 hours of sleep. I the smart one stayed up to play some chinese poker and blackjack with a friend. I won, all or nothing. So I ended up going to bed at like 3-4AM and I had to wake up at 9AM. 5 hours of sleep does not make me function. Then I say through a whole day of classes. Quite grand.

Tomorrow should be better. I am getting breakfast in bed, hopefully. Then I have my internship at the radio station and then I have work at Tabler center. It's a pretty laxed day but I do have a lot of work to do, which I am not doing right now. Hm, I might as well start now.

Family Museum with Sketchup

This semester was the first time that i got to use the program Sketchup, let alone even know about it. I was always very interested in the concept of 3D and i agree with the fact that everything will be 3D in the next couple of years. The program sketchup by google, is an amazing tool that allows you to create your own space and edit it any way you want. Using the sketchup wharehouse, you have access to thousands of models and different ideas that could help evolve your own. The only real difficulties that I had were with navigating around my own space with the orbit tool however im sure this becomes easier as you gain experience with the program.

Using sketchup, I attempted to design a museum. I used my artwork, edited family photos, as the art and developed a space around it to help show my ideas. I am very pleased with the way my museum turned out as it was my first time using the program. I hope to use it in the future and possibly in a future career. Above is a video of a walkthrough of my museum and below is a link to some 2D photos of the layout design. Enjoy!

I am so tired

Today has been a rather hectic day and I'm glad it's almost over. The reason why it was so hectic was because of a few things. First I had a philosophy test on Nietzsche's The Gay Science. Now while I did read the book (albeit rather late) I was lost. That is to say I didn't understand some of the things that were said or it just could not for the life of me make any connections to it. I'm just grateful that I managed to come up with something when the exam came out.

Another thing that wore me out was the fact that for my ACH writing class we had to present our critiques today. Now this would not have been so bad except for the fact that my partner never emailed me her work. Thus I was not able to critique her work. As I was sweating buckets at the thought of being called on I was relieved when we spent the whole class on one person's critique. Though I still have not heard from her so I'm still worried.

Lastly I was finding out from my section if I could have their permission to draw them for my art class. I was afraid that they would say no, but so far everyone has said yes (though there is still a chance they'll say no since I haven't revealed all the information regarding the project). Sigh, and now I have to finish doing this blog. Oh, wait I'm done... thank God! I realize this post wasn't that interesting, however I'll try and write an interesting one tomorrow. Until then, au revoir!

Good People DO Still Exist

The plumber was supposed to be here at 5pm. He called at about 5 to 5 and said he was running late but would be here this evening. As I sat and waited, I blogged about various topics (feel free to browse). At 8pm he finally arrived and I have to admit, I was a quite annoyed. I actually assumed he was not coming.

He actually turned out to be the nicest man who works so hard for his family. He did not try to bill me for things I didn't need and actually showed me pointers on things that he is charging hundreds of dollars for that I or any other homeowner can get at a local hardware store myself. Even though it was late, and I am sure he has a family to go home to. He took the time to explain things to me and offered to come back tomorrow because he wanted to make sure my sink was working correctly.

As he left he did not even ask to get paid up front, even though he is picking up new parts for my sink tomorrow. Maybe I'll change my tune when I get the final bill (LOL) but I have faith in him and he made me realize that a plumber coming late for an appointment doesn't make him insensitive or rude or unprofessional. I also realized that I should not make judgments on people before I get to know them.

sometimes Big Change takes small steps

One Day at a time has become my new motto.

I used to think I had my life planned out (to a certain degree). As I got older I became a little more aware of who I was and what I wanted but I am finding that change is a continual thing and what you think you want changes often. So instead I have decided, not to decide.

I am going to keep options open and just see where life takes me instead of having me worry about where my life is going to go. These past few years I have become more involved in activities and met a lot of friends. Not all of them remain in my life but each one has left some type of impression on me.

At 40, I still do not know what I want to be when I grow up but I am realizing that's okay and I don't necessarily have "be" anything. I am not going to put any more stress on myself worrying about what has not yet happened or where I thought I should be at this point in my life, instead I have become open to being open to things and letting things just fall into place.

I have had a good run so far and I have all of the major blessings in my life. I would like to start volunteering more and be a better mother, sister, friend, lover etc. The unknown is very scary bur I think I will look back and realize this was the best part of my life.
