It Must Really Suck To Be John Makowski Right Now

I positively hate Psych tests from the very depths of my being and soul.
Honestly. I attend all your lectures, I keep up with the readings, I don't cram into the night before a test and everytime I walk into your exams I feel like it consists of things I've neither heard nor read before. Plus I felt pretty confident about this one. Great.
What else can I whine about today...Oh, yes. I have to write a paper on about 3,000 readings I never have the time to do and can look toward a final exam which I most certainly will bomb. THEN I have an ACH 102 project about computer coding (shit nobody cares about) and then I will drown in my stress from everything else.
Today is a great day.

Stress is wearing me out...

Well, classes are almost over and finals start in another week it's no wonder I feel a bit stressed out. However the stress I feel now seems even worse than what I felt in the fall. You dear reader may be wondering why I feel as such, though I'll tell you why. It's all because of the different classes I'm taking, two in particular.
Let's begin with the first one, which would be this class. I feel stressed about this class not so much because of the 50 blog assignments( which I should start finishing) or the projects. I feel stressed because of the performance, and just a general feel that this is a roller coaster of a ride I'm going on right now. It's not to say I'm not enjoying the class but, I can't help but feel that he gives us too much free reign and that at times could be a little bit more specific. Well not much I can do now except to do the best that I can.
I'm also stressing about my final conceptual project in art. I originally had a lot planned for it but now I may have to scale it down. Though I still have time for it. I know in the end I'll manage, and though it may seem like a lot to me right now, I'll get through it. Not only that, it'll be the best.

Committing Suicide for the Sake of an A

As I laid on the ground, with my body contorted from my leap into death, the light from my eyes started to dim as I breathed my last breath. Well, that is, until I was told to get up again. After re-creating a suicide from the railings I got up and dusted myself off, as my group finished the last of the re-creations. As we were walking I thought to myself how humorous it was that I "committed suicide" (twice!) for the sake of an A. However that soon changed as I realized something. I realized that there are students who have done that.. who have committed suicide, not for the sake of an A, mind you, but because they couldn't get that A.
Suicide has been a big issue fairly recently with it's ties with gay bullying and harassment, especially after what happened to Tyler Clementi the Rutger's freshman who jumped off the George Washington bridge. However before that I remembered as a senior in high school how in discussing the various colleges, suicide was a topic brought up. It became hard to ignore it when news broke of the Cornell students who jumped to their death and the fences subsequently put up to prevent anymore possible jumpers. It was also hard to ignore the death of Cameron Dabaghi, the junior from Yale who ended his life by jumping off the Empire State Building.
With each of these suicides I recalled how it made me worried about college, however it only lasted for a little bit as I realized I would be fine. Now after a year of being in college I've noticed how easy it is to become stressed out, especially in trying to get and/or maintain a 4.0 GPA. Not only that but, the idea of chasing after perfection, the pressure that one can get only multiplies when you're the first in the family to ever go to college, or the one the family designates as the savior and the one that cannot screw up or you'll be disowned. With that kind of pressure one can see why suicide may seem like a viable option.
However, with all that being said suicide is really only a permanent solution to a temporary problem. To be honest one shouldn’t have to kill oneself for not being able to have perfection, I mean it’s unattainable and really, who in the world is perfect? Also one needs to remember that there are a lot of people who have gone to do great things, brilliant people really, and you know what? A bunch of them are college dropouts or in some rare cases never went to college at all. If that is so then why should students be killing themselves over a course like, I don’t know underwater basket weaving (?), when they don’t need it?
The idea of failure, it’s what leads to some students committing suicide, because they’re “failures”. Well, if you feel that you are a failure then own it! Admit it, and then learn from it. We learn from our mistakes and from the ashes we’ll rise and be reborn as a phoenix. Anyway suicide, as tragic as it may be, we have to carry on to tomorrow and do everything to the best of our ability, even if it means that we cannot attain that A. All anyone can do is do their best and if that means that your best is a B-, then what more can anyone ask for? Don’t strive for something for the sake of pleasing someone else, do it because you want to. After all why commit suicide for the sake of an A when you have so much more you can achieve that has more meaning than an A will ever have?

I should be asleep right now

A few month's ago I decided that I would hold a free sketches event on my deviantart account. However I had to then put on facebook as I came to the sad conclusion that not that many people watch me. So I posted a note detailing of my free sketches event and that the first ten people to comment would receive a free sketch from me. To be honest it's a little redundant considering my drawings have always been free ( though if one wanted to pay me out of the kindness of their heart, who am I to say no?). Anyway I got a few people saying they were interested but that was it.

I actually had to ask several times if people wanted in. It wasn't until I had finally gotten ten people that I got around to doing the free sketches. At first I got a few comments here and there. It wasn't until I drew my section leader that I actually heard from other's saying how good my drawings were. While I was flattered I did not let it go to my head as I could point at certain mistakes, but it made me happy nonetheless.

As my sketches went on that more people started to ask me to draw them. I said yes, though it slowly grew and grew. It finally got to a point where I now have 14 requests that I have to do now. What makes it worse is that I haven't finished my original 10 yet and now I have these requests as well as the assignments for my art class. I guess I need to find time to finish these things before the semester is over. Once all is finished I can finally draw in ease without having my stomach turn at the thought of sacrificing one drawing for another.

Life A.D.D

Someone please me! I have severe Life A.D.D. I am very envious of people who know exactly where they are going and are following a track that will lead them to their success. No so much for me. One day I think high school teacher, the next its how am I going to get started preparing for LSATS? Last year I got certified as a Group Exercise trainer and now I am thinking I wanna become a Yoga Instructor. My friends and family get a kick out of my what my mother calls, "little adventures". Many people are even jealous at the amount of things I can juggle at once. Is it justified because I am in my youth? I am just trying to "find myself" right? Or am I just wasting my time...? I wish I could just act like a typical college student and feel satisfied with classes and attempting to find an internship. I worry I will fall short because of all the things I pile on my lap. Maybe I am at an advantage. Oh well, time will tell!
