Final Blog/End of the Year

Here it is, the final blog post of the year. The big FIVE OH. Number 50. At the beginning of the year when we were told that we were required to write 50 blogs I was a little nervous as I would not know what to write or what I could blog about. And even though for the most part I waited until the last second, it wasn't nearly as bad or such a burden as I initially thought it would be.

Looking back on this year, I am astonished at how fast it went by. Some of my memories of the first day feel just like yesterday. It's a little depressing when I think about it because the end of this year to me means that I am losing some friends. These are people that I would see nearly every day and to have something like that suddenly taken out of your life, and to see them maybe once a month is hard to take in. I know I'll keep in touch with these people for the rest of my life, but you don't want people to ever become a lesser part in your life. In brighter news I am doing good this year academically and am expecting a pretty high GPA for this semester.

It's been nice blogging, but I'm out.

Summer/Graduation

The end of the spring semester is upon us which means a 2 things. Graduation for some people, and summer for everybody. Now, I won't be graduating for at least 2 years but graduation this year is going to affect me greatly. Of the group of people that I primarily hang out with, four of them will be graduating, and one of them will not be coming back next semester. I hang out with a pretty big group so four of us will be back next semester, but my main group of friends just took a big hit. Next semester will be a little less quite without these people in my life on a daily basis, and I will surely miss them.

Now on to something much less depressing. Summer 2011 is nearly here, which means the beach, sunlight, bbq's, and an overall fun time. The summer is also the only time I work and that money needs to last me all throughout the year, so I have to make sure I get enough hours in to get paid that dough. My birthday is also in the summer, and for me that means seeing family members that I have not seen for a while, which I enjoy unlike most people I know. One more week and this semester is over, and the summer can start!

Finals Week

Midnight Breakfast was last night so that means that Finals week is here, a dreaded time for students who lock themselves into the library and study for their tests that make up for 50% of their grade. Finals week can be a very stressful time on a students life, and it is scientifically proven to reduce up to 7 years from your life.

However for me this year, Finals week will not be so stressful. I only have three finals this week, two on Thursday and one on Friday, and I am not going to need much studying to get a good grade. One of those finals should actually be a piece of cake and would be surprised if it takes me more than a half an hour. Now of course I am going to review some of my notes Wednesday to make sure I am fully prepared for the tests because it would be a shame to get not get a great grade on something that was so easy.

For everyone else out there that will be spending the majority of their week in the library studying away into the wee hours of the night, I feel for you.

Donald Trump

Yesterday afternoon, Donal Trump decided not to run for the GOP candidacy, and then in turn run for President. For those of you that have been staying away from the news recently, Donald Trump has been "seriously considering" running for President these past months, but he said he was unable to announce any kind of decision until after his show "Celebrity Apprentice" had finished airing. Apparently, Donald trump was one of the front runners of candidates for the GOP, rising greatly these months to the number 2 spot, mostly for how much he bad mouthed Obama and demanded that he reveal his birth certificate to prove he was an American citizen.

What's even more astonishing is that Trump says that he is 100% confident that if he had run for office he would have succeeded in grabbing the GOP bid, and then succeeded in becoming the President of the free world.

Now would I have voted for him if he had decided to run? Probably not, but it sure would have been an interesting four years if The Trump had actually been able to nab the Presidency.

Thoughts on The Tank

Overall, I thought the final performance at The Tank was a little bit of a disappointment for some reasons. One of the biggest being that we were unable to get the Kinect hack work with our actors, something that we works for most of the semester trying to do, and what I thought was the main point of the show. When we had it working in class I thought it was actually pretty cool and thought that if we had it working, the show would have been great.

Another thing I didn't really understand was why we had to go to Manhattan to perform a play in a smaller theater than one we have here at Stony Brook. I could understand if it wasn't just people from our class that came, but that's all it was. Students from the class and then people that they brought. However, going to the city is always great, and although I personally did not mind taking the train in, I know that there were some people that did not like that.

However, I thought the actors did a great job working with the circumstances that they were given since the Kinect didn't work, and I thought Robbie's story was very good and engaging.

The Rain

For this whole week, the weather forecasts a lot of rain, something that I would assume most people are upset with because for the most part, the rain sucks. But in this situation, I love the rain. Now I'm not some gloomy depressing person that gets excited every time it's cloudy and it rains (although it's not that bad once in a while). The reason I am so excited for all this rain this week is because of my allergies, and i'm sure a lot of people who get them can agree with me. Allergy season this year was horrible, and it has officially gone on record as the worst allergy season of all time. In fact it was so bad this year that I actually had to go to the hospital, after much consideration as to whether I should or not, because I had difficulty breathing because of all the pollen.

Now some of you who are unfamiliar with allergies might not understand what all this rain means for allergy sufferers, and why I am so elated for the rain. Well basically, when it rains after all the pollen has been released, it washes the pollen away and makes it much more tolerable to be outside or have your window open. The rain is actually a small beacon of light during the suffering that many people endure during allergy season.

So even though it's gloomy and depressing out, just know that this rain is helping millions of people from their allergies right now.
