To get rid of any confusion this post is not going to teach you how to drive a stick shift (another name for a manual transmission) car, but rather my experience with it so far, and that does not mean you should stop reading the post, so I encourage you to keep reading. For those of you who don’t know what the difference between an automatic and a manual transmission car is, a rough definition would be that automatic is a lot easier. I’m just kidding even though it seems to be at first. In a manual car you, the driver, changes the gears in the car, similar to what you would do on a bicycle with various gears. The inside of the car looks the same except there is an extra pedal on the left of the brake, and there is a stick in the middle of the driver and front passenger, which you use to change gears. Now that you know what the difference is, here is my experience. I have had very minimal contact with it. After we brought the new car back home my dad let me back it up in the driveway, so I put it into reverse, the first few times I was not letting the clutch go quickly enough. Finally after I started to move backward I slammed on the brakes, before hitting the side of the house, and since I did not hold the clutch the car stalled, then after that my dad was like that’s enough, and when I asked him when I would learn he said in the summer.
